  • Flying SQ F on the birthday!

Long time lurker to the forum from the Flyertalk (I go by the same name in FT)!

Last December, before UA raised up their MP redemption rates, I quickly booked a *A award on SQ in F... and purposely on my birthday .

I had heard about people getting B-day cakes etc. but I am not sure how to do it? Do you request this when you request for the seat assignments? How were your birthday flight experiences? I am not expecting anything special but since I had heard about the B-day cake, I wasn't sure if it had to be requested or SQ, being ever so attentive, does it on their own without having to ask .

Also, due to schedule changes, I was reaccommodated on 77W flights in F for SIN-BOM-SIN flights that are part of my award flight (Long story: I had to call several times to UA and SQ, but SQ was able to deliver my requests) !
Are SIN-BOM-SIN flights (SQ424 and SQ423) long enough to have turn-down service and pajamas? I think the flight times are 5:30 where the return flight is a red-eye flight (I will certainly make a great use of the seat on the return).

Anyway, I am very excited to be back flying SQ premium cabin!

Birthday cakes have to be requested. If you don't ask for one you will not get it.

Or someone has to ask for you. That's how I've ended up on some flights with calories I hadn't planned for.

      Welcome to SQTalk, brahms77.

Ah yes, me too. Those seated near me were appreciative.

I also shared my cake with those in the cabin.
I just couldn't eat any more after all that food!

when i received a cake, it was because my pps coordinator had planned it unannounced. it was actually one of my favorite moments onboard, as the crew even took the time to hand-make a really thoughtful card that i still keep on my desk. if you want to enjoy your cake onboard, you should probably bring this to their attention at least a couple days before your scheduled flight.

Did the Y pax request the cake him/herself?

I've only heard of Y pax receiving it when a PPS member requested it through his/her PPS coordinator.

Unfortunately, none of my relatives are PPS Members, so that's a spot of bad luck for me.

I've seen the cake request on both my PNR and Boarding Pass. Result: NO CAKE!

That's a shame. What do they print on the boarding pass? Never seen any message on my BP.
