  • Question about Airfares

    Dear All,

A380 is out for more than 1 year and I would like to experience it! I took a look at SingaporeAir UK site. I plan to fly from London to Taipei via Singpaore.

It costs 907GBP to fly from LHR to TPE!! (in economy)
but it only costs 565GBP to fly from LHR to HKG!!!
and why is that?? Why SQ does not put TPE in promotion fare?

    Thanks for your response!

You'd have to be nuts (or a mileage/status runner) to want to fly to TPE via SIN:

    LHR-HKG-TPE - 6,496 miles

    LHR-SIN-TPE - 8,762 miles

So there's no point offering a promotion fare for something which very very few people are going to book.

      Are you calling me nuts?
      I'll take 8762 miles over 6496 miles.

I just want to experience A380.
So the mileage is not a big point for me.
          Thanks for the response

          But still
THe mileage for LHR-HKG should be much smaller than
          LHR-SIN-HKG

why would they offer promotion for LHR-SIN-HKG not LHR-SIN-TPE?
So I dont think mileage is the big part.

Isn't HKG market more competitive? LHR-HKG has CX, BA, VS, and NZ.

Perhaps try the best of both worlds:

LHR-SIN-HKG to experience the SQ A380

              And with the money saved:

HKG-TPE (certain flights only) to try CX's new Y seat
