  • 747 F vs 77W J - your votes

Imagine both aircraft fly the same route and you have a free ticket - is the new J just a bit more comfy and contemporary, or would you go for the classic 747-nose experience?

Free? I'd go first of course. Service and food is much better. First is still First, but the new J is damn good.

Having flown each dozens of times, I would take whichever flight was more convenient for my schedule. Both are great.

I would recommend First Class over Business Class anytime. Oh, not that Business Class isn't any good, of course.

The nose of a 744 is a very special place.

i love the 747 skysuite...to me, it is a no brainer. but there is not a finer business class in the sky, so you can't go wrong with either choice.

I asked the same question before.
The majority of the answer was that F is F is F.

And now that I flew both, I agree that F on 744 is better than C on 77W.

                  F is F is F, if comparing SQ 744 F to SQ 77W J. Full stop.

Surely the only time you'd choose any SQ J over any SQ F is on a night flight where F equipment is 772/773 regional and J equipment is 77W/345/380? I do think that overnight flights on 772/773 regional is just cruel and unusual punishment.

On a day flight, I'm most likely to be concentrating on eating and drinking so I won't notice the appalling IFE and bad seat I bring my own IFE anyway - my laptop loaded with movies I need to catch up on... which means that on a free ticket, I will always choose F on a day flight.

i guess your tastes are far more discerning than mine... i certainly wouldn't consider the IFE on any SQ plane, irrespective of class, to be appalling.

F is F is F is F is F is F and will always be F, unless of course, it's on SQ, and you're on an award. , at which time of course, it's F-

It is appalling when you get the non-AVOD 772/773 with a tiny screen that you can't really see much through the fog of scratchedness. I didn't bother even trying to use it for anything other than Airshow.

So far, I seem to have very bad luck with 772/773 - all of those flights were non-AVOD.

Completely agree with SQflyergirl.....also whatever you end up choosing you'll not go wrong on SQ. Wish you a fantastic flight and experience onboard SQ!

                          Cheers.

Why do you say F- when on an award ticket? I have flown F in several airlines on paid/upgrade/redeem tickets and haven't seen any difference in service. I am not even sure the airline crew know if this is a revenue ticket or not?
