Who has flown 9V-SPK?

Thinking back, I remember the moment rather vividly... was in HK at the time when it happened, and saw it broadcasted live on BBC. Tragic!

I was just thinking about that plane this morning! I didn't get to fly on it but I remember how shocking it was when it came out in the news here in Singapore.

No, I haven't been on this or 9V-SPL. The only time I've actually seen SPK in person was more than 10 years ago at Heathrow, but at the time, it had the standard SQ livery, not the tropical livery. Actually I haven't even seen SPL with the tropical livery in person either, just pictures.

I was extremely upset about the news. I always get really upset when a crash involves a 747, but the fact that it was SQ 747-400 (may favorite plan operated by my favorite airline) made it even more upsetting.

I remembered that night I had an early night to be awaken by a telephone call early in the morning. It was a call from a friend to inform me of the crash. I was numbed for a couple of minutes.

I have flew on either SPL or SPK from LHR-SIN (circa. 1998). I didn't know it was in the tropical livery until I disembarked the aircraft!

I was studying at the airport on 31 October 2000, and I watched 9V-SPK take off from T2 bound for TPE as SQ006.

Flew it in June 1999. SIN-AMS-EWR.

I remember vividly peering out of the T2 boarding gate watching the rain droplets hamper my view of the majestic craft sitting in the floodlights.

I flew on one of them back in 1999, SIN-LHR, but wasn't interested in registrations then. Have since flown SPL a few times in ordinary colours since, but I'll never know if I did fly SPK or not.
