  • Which Gin and Vodka Should Be Served on Board SQ?

If you see the beverage lists aboard SQ, right now here are what they served on board:

    • In Y Class: Gordon's Dry Gin and Smirnoff Red Label Vodka
    • In C Class: Gordon's Dry Gin and Absolut Vodka
    • In F Class: Bombay Sapphire Gin and Absolut Vodka

What do you think what are the more appropriate gin and vodka to be served onboard Singapore Airlines?

I think Belvedere or Grey Goose would be an OK vodka for C.
As I'm not a big vodka drinker, not so sure about high end vodkas.
As for Gin, Bombay Sapphire should be served in C as well IMHO.

for a premier airline like SQ, gordon's is a pretty poor choice in J... they should have bombay sapphire in J as well. tanq 10 is my personal fav for gin however.

I would prefer that no hard liquor be served onboard -- just beer, wine, and champagne. I guess I've seen too many problems with drunk passengers.

I'd have to strongly disagree as it is all about choice. I have seen my fair share of drunk passengers. I don't think cutting the hard booze will stop them from drinking, though...

In that case, the airlines should hand out qualudes. Much less dangerous than alcohol and better in every way.

The trouble with Tanq is it's a lot stronger than other gins. It's my favourite, more so because I like the shape of the bottle, more than anything else. When it's mixed with tonic though I really can't tell much difference between Gordon's, Bombay, Beefeater and so on. So does it really matter?

What i would like to see in F is a choice of flavoured martini's. A chocolate and mint martinin made with fresh ingredients is very nice. Frost the glass with chocolate powder, then mix the drink and pour. It would give the SQ girls and boys a chance to show off some brialliant skills and provide a demonstrable edge over J. Then in J, why not have two gins a passenger could choose between? In whY, stick to Gordon's. It's a recogniseable brand of quality and would fit with SQ very well.

On SK i was served Greenalls gin in J. It was nice, but I had never heard of it and it shouted penny pinching to me.

Greenalls gin is made by the same company that make Bombay Saph but don't tell anyone

actually wat kind of gin and vodka served is not impt..the most impt thing is that they should giv passengers in small miniature bottles so that passengers can keep them as souvenirs, SQ only have japanese sake that are served in bottles and you can request for it even if you are not on flight to n fro Japan.
Airlines like SilkAir, ANA, Japan Airlines, United, SAS, Air New Zealand, Qantas etc are doing it..why can't SQ?

More personalized service to have the cabin crew prepare your drinks (i.e. cost cutting...)

I think the F vodka should at least be Grey Goose; it's the smoothest vodka I've tasted neat, at least on the ground. (I don't know how the pressurized cabin would affect that judgment.)

I agree with the others that a better gin than Gordon's should be J, for the sake of branding.

On the subject of branding ...

I have to say, I didn't think pax would want little bottles of alcohol as souvenirs of their flights! There's really nothing to mark them as uniquely SQ. Someone once told me SQ considered it déclassé to serve alcohol (liquor or wine) in those mini bottles.
