  • SQ fare deals SIN-TPE

there are fare deals for many sq asian destinations. my frens and i are planning to go to taipei in feb. but the current deal of 688 per pax deal is only valid for jan. shld i wait for a while more for them to extend the deal to feb or shld i jus get a cheaper seat on china airlines? (i'm also afraid if i wait for sq, i wld miss out on the seats on the cheaper airlines)

    Welcome to SQTalk!
But we don't know the origination of the fares what you posted? From down-under? From Europe? From LAX?

I suggest you book your non-SQ seats with a travel agent first, and delay payment till absolutely necessary (perhaps mid January). In this climate, I doubt other airlines will be selling out tickets anyway.

          welcome to SQtalk.....

i recommand you to book through travel agency as they are able to get a cheap deal....taking SQ flight to taipei is the best....not like airchina, eva airlines and so on =D

Not at all true... there are taxes and admin charges. Most TA book you on cheaper buckets which have tons of travel restrictions as well

If you can avoid SQ, Jetstar is good for price if you don't mind budget air. 4.5 hour to TPE should be the max stomachable

no body cares about how long it takes to go there....but the service....the most important...what if an airlines offer you an cargo area seat with no table no food service for 4.5 hours?

well yea therefore i'm gg for full service area instead of jet star. the cathay pac way of gg to TPE is a no-go. takes 7 hours both ways? given tt its a short trip of 4 days, it wld eat into so much time of the first n last day. of cos i hope i can go with SQ. but i'm not sure if they will extend the fare deal to feb

I do not mean to be up-tight about this but I don't think that you should postulate your opinion as general consensus. What you are saying is definitely not true nor relevant here, sorry. I also do not mean to argue with you about this but you have to see that other people have other opinions about this: why not let him fly JetStar - it's his decision after all.

And FYI because you obviously don't get the point here: warhero2000 already stated that he values JetStars quality almost as good as full service carriers. If you don't, that's fine but not relevant here too. JetStar does certainly not let you sit in the cargo area as a) true revenue is being generated here and b) that's most likely against some regulations of passenger transportation.

Additionally, I respect that you care about food, "table", and catering aboard but not everybody has the need to eat on an airplane. Most of the times, airline food isn't even worth it at all, not even on SQ.

My recommendation for warhero2000 is to get the cheap ticket on JetStar and get some good meal at the East Coast Hawker Center in Singapore and a good menu in Taipei for the fare difference: I think Kyo can help you out with good satay in Taipei. Have a great trip!

EDIT: I think layover time is a big factor to consider as well.

I had been flying to SIN-TPE sector with SQ many times this year (Biz Trip).
The only Pro for SQ is the 3 flights/day.
If you want to go for Value for $$$, I would suggest BR (EVA). There having a Promo of S$410 exc Taxes, But the Cons is, you have to depart TPE around 0740H. But you can tried their A330 or 747. If you are lucky, you might able to experience their 777-300ER, which i think is better than SQ 77W. esp playing with their touch screen on the PTV. Another option for departing SIN early and Departing TPE late would be CI (China Airline).
                          Hope it helps.

I'm totally agreed on what Flo had mention abt 3K.
I had been on this flight to TPE before. Nothing fancy, but worth the $$$.
Spend the rest of the money on Hot Spring, nice taiwan foods and hotel.
You can't compare 3K with SQ. It will be unfair to 3K.
BTW, I paid S$290 including Tax for a return ticket to TPE on 2006.
                            That really a good bargain.
But if the price for 3K & other Airlines is only S$100 difference, i would suggest that taking a Full Service Airline.

Yeah, I concur... especially since jetstar has a promotion now for flights between Singaproe and Taipei, from S$208 one way (all in). Maybe you should save the S$250 and get a better hotel at Taipei

Edit: oh, in this fuel environment, i think S$400+ is not bad as it is... Jet star is actually selling that ticket at $0 fares, but $208 for taxes
Edit Edit: in this "fuel environment"... (airlines need to do away with fuel surcharges and revise their fares quarterly like they did in the past )
