  • SQ861/SQ862

I have been looking at schedules and i have seen that these flights have been changed to B777-300 why is that?

  • #2
The change is effective 12 January 09 - the same day SQ1/2 changes to a B777-300ER
SQ has been advertising in the HK newspaper about the plane change to SFO, but no word about the downgrade in service

      It's still showed 77W..... along with SQ1...
      Am I missing something???

        hi,

        newbie here in SQTalk.

last jan 18, me and my family were so excited going to Changi T3 (to HKG)
joy was shortlived when we found out that they have changed equipment for SQ866 from B744 to B772ER =(

i thought i will be able to get my wife and kid onboard the jumbo before those birds retire their jerseys but... oh well.

prior to that, another surprise caught my attention. SQ861 was supposedly 77W, SQ changed it to 773 *sigh*

This line of discussion was partly being discussed in a thread I started recently on which plane to choose to HK.

I'm going to HK soon (between March to May). The SQ861/862 planes are still being shown as 77Ws.

I was warned that these planes frequently see equipment changes (although they're still 77Ws) so I'm considering switching to to SQ1/2 on both legs even if it means having to take an early morning flights on my return trip.

Here's what I get when I attempt to book a flight between Sg and HK:

It all boils down to prioritizing when there are not enough airframes available vv the proximity, yield of the destination. Don't worry though since these shoiuld normalise during the summer schedules

Not only SQ862/861, but SQ802/805 to and from Beijing was also switched from 77W to 772. However schedule search for today shows both SQ862/861 and the PEK flights are back to 77W service.

The last 77W came a few days ago isn't it? They previously have to withdraw the aircraft from PEK and SQ862/861 to provide an aircraft for SQ2/1.

The last 77W was delayed due to strikes yes? I guess they had already struck deals with the next owners of the 744s so they have to make schedule changes in order to make the 744 handover.

I'm going to have to take the early morning flight from Hong Kong then.

I pay for my First and Business Class travel. There's no way I'm going to go on the 772 after seeing pictures of its cabin interiors!

It would be much safer to take SQ1/2 if you are risk-averse.
My SQ 861 was swapped from 77W to 772 (3 class) last week.

They won't change the a/c back to 77W for you however much you dislike the 772.
