  • LHR - SIN - BNE... quietest times?

    Hello there.

I've been lurking here on and off for some time. Unlike many of you, I am not a regular flyer, but we use SQ when we travel to Brisbane. We are just your basic, run of the mill Y flyers.

We're about to book our next flight and although I'm happy with out choices, I am curious to know if there are any flights that tend to be quieter than others? I don't think it would really change our choice, but it's been interesting to note over the years how much a flight can vary. I wondered if there was a pattern to this or if it were totally random.

For reference, our current chosen flights are:

Departing Friday 20th March - LHR to SIN SQ317, SIN to BNE SQ245
Returning Sunday 12th April - BNE to SIN SQ236, SIN to LHR SQ322

Our main criteria has been to get on the A380 again!

    Thank you for your help.
    Great forum, btw.

I have taken all SIN-BNE flights (235,245,255) and the noise level is about the same except my last flight which was 245, a group of Italian students would not close their mouths all the time. I was actually astonished that they could talk that long non-stop.

Thank you for your response. Perhaps I used the wrong word - I meant the routes that tend to have less travellers, rather than less noise (though that would also be nice!). Interesting that we also had a group of students sitting in the two rows ahead of us on our last SIN-BNE flight. They were a total pain as they had all booked special meals and then proceeded to sit in the wrong seats, causing the cabin crew no end of trouble. Luckily, they fell asleep about 3 hours into the flight.

I've often found SQ319 ex LHR is often less full. It is still a 744 though.

SQ319 is my favorite among the 3 LHR-SIN. The nice dinner after takeoff where I can slowly enjoy the meals and not rush through to go to to sleep immediately and by the time I'm through with the meals, I've still got time to enjoy a movie before snoozing. By the time I wake up it's usually around 11am SGT or 3 hours prior to landing. Timing simply the best for my taste.
