A frequent flyer would know that. Unfortunately, some occasional travelers might not know those routines.
It would be nice if the crew at least tried to explain to the passenger rather than 'challenged' the pax in writing the comment form.

This father asked for a complaint form so readily - he doesn't sound like a naive leisure traveller; more like a demanding consumer.

Anyway, I think Dad's first question to the CS should've been, "Can you explain to me why we had to wait till we landed ?".

Indeed, we are only hearing one side of the story here.
However, if the story was as reported here, I'd think there are much better ways to handle the situation.
