Can anyone else confirm this? Personally I do travel on this route occasionally and would be a pity to see SQ pull out as I would now have to treck to DEL then domestic to Punjab
'Service to Amritsar will be withdrawn from 4 February 2009. Customers booked on flights to and from Amritsar will be re-accommodated on Singapore Airlines flight to and from Delhi.'
I also fly this route alot, i heard the reason behind the cancellation was that SQ was being charged landing fees greater than DEL at ATQ, also the J class load was doing poorly, my question to SQ is than why not employ SILK AIR flights to ATQ than as the Y class load was doing fine?? there is the demand there as there are over 500,000 NORTH AMERICAN PUNJABI population travelling to Punjab, add about 100,000 from OCEANIA and the local asian traffic, i think it would have made sense, as landing in ATQ beats the long 5 hour journey to DEL... Hopefully the services resume or i heard speculations that Air Asia has gained unlimited landing rights for ATQ.
Cheers

Silkair does not have aircraft with the range to fly there.
The flight being canceled, sounds sad to me. My sister-in-law stays at Amritsar.
Welcome to SQ Talk Chua. I was sort of expecting the suspension of many flights. More may be on the way if load factor continues to slide. This is "old news" on this site but I noticed many of the companies I dealt with have reduced travel and/or downgrade to EY from C. The latter is having a big impact on SQ.

well i hope the flights resume in the future, as there are five star hotels coming up around ATQ, farmers had started to export produce, thus meaning these people are going to loose out, also i heard over RS 150 crore have been approved for futher works/construction of ATQ, thus if SQ can fly to LHE it can also work something out perhaps SIN-DEL-ATQ-DEL-SIN ???

If I'm not wrong, SQ makes the flight attendants do turnaround on trips to India. Therefore, I think it's kinda impossible for this route to happen in SQ.
We put labels on people and fight wars over them. If we truly want harmony, we have to get past the labels.

SQ crew only do turnarounds on MAA, BLR and HYD. They will layover in BOM, DEL, AMD and ATQ. In fact, it is a 3-4 days layover in Ahmedabad and Amritsar. Heard the crew saying that they were so bored there, lol.

In addition, the crew also don't liked the turnaround flight as it is in total a long two ways flight with two meal services.
Flying distance is about 2490 NM I just checked. I believe the A320 has a max range of approx 3000NM, so it might be pushing it, but is possible. Its only approx 260NM further than SIN-PER which is operated by TR A320's.
