Most cargo that move between SIN and KUL are actually done by road. Obvious reasons are for the red tape and no undertable allowed going the proper channels. SIN handlers are known to have Malaysian counterparts who run the trade well to avoid cargo from being held up.

Your reasoning of perishables needed to be airflown can be dispelled easily wIth the transport of the JI terrorist Top's body from KLIA to his hometown in Pandan, Johor Bahru. No doubt it is not Singapore, it is close enough at that given that Singapore is 40km away. I do not see why with the correct condtions anything cannot be shipped by road over such a short distance.

there will come a time soon when SQ will only operate a single A330 flight into KUL just to maintain its "rights" that it still flies to KUL - but all its other flights will be handled over to its subsidiary, Silkair.

With Air Asia launching 9 daily flights at much lower fares, that time is likely to come, if not sooner.

I stand to correct this statement that it would hold true only if you book early.

Besides, only when AK plies into KLIA then can we equate the two

It is evidently so at this time, looking from the additional 772/330 trips are done so as to maximise AF usage and to give the cockpit crew enough flying hours.
