SQ/VS combined ticket

I was hoping to book a combined SQ/VS y class ticket ex DXB on the following sequence last week:

DXB-SIN-NRT (on SQ) and NRT-LHR-DXB (on VS). SQ Dubai and SQ SG offices gave the same answer: forget the idea as this will come up to over 30k AED (under 8k USD) for a y class ticket.

I always had the impression that since SQ owns 49% of VS and they had this campaign on SQ/VS joint ticketing and still I feel over my chair when they told me the fare. Called DXB VS and got the same story.

Anyone with advise on how to get a respectable y class SQ/VS ticket?

With that kind of routing you are doing 2 one-ways, hence the high cost. It may be much cheaper to combine as an around the world (ie NRT to LHR is via USA or Canada).

But the routing above does not qualify for a RTW unless OP does NRT-LAX-LHR-DXB.

RTW on SQ/VS is US$3495 anyway and RWSTAR1 is US$3158.
