Do i have to collect baggage in a 25h stopover in singapore?
Hello to you all, i'm new to this forum. I'm flying on SQ from Barcelona to Auckland next week and i have a 25h stopover in singapore. Does anyone now if I have to collect my baggage?
Thank you
I've experienced 20 hours stop over before and my bag was checked in all the way to the final destination. The check in person normally put a tag saying the bag has long lay-over time. I don't think you need to recollect your luggage but there is a chance since it is over 24 hours.
I've been to sin a few times for less than 24h and didnt have to collect the bags, but being over 24h i'm wondering if i have to recheck them in.I'm carrying spare clothes on my hand baggage so it would be great if checked baggage went straight to auckland.
Hi
just to let u know guys that i've called singapore airlines (barcelona office) and i've been told that baggage can stayover more than 24h in singapore with no problem
If you are indeed able to leave it there for your 25hour stop, you can ask them to attach a CHK-FLT/DTE commentary on the luggage tag - which helps too, since there'll probably a similar numbered flight departing the day earlier, likely one hour after your inbound arrives.
ok, that sounds good,i'll ask them for the tag then, thanks mate.
Is there any way to find out reg number of the plane we're flying on SIN-AKL (SQ281)?been told that some of the 777-200 don't have AVOD
One last question:
I'm flying economy (Q) and i've been told that I'm getting no miles for that class of ticket. Is there any way of getting the miles?paying a fee maybe?

From SQ website:
Most booking fares are eligible for accrual of KrisFlyer miles. However, Economy Class tickets issued in V, Q, G, N or T booking classes on Singapore Airlines and V, Q, G, N, T, W or L booking classes on SilkAir are ineligible for mileage accrual. No miles will be earned for award tickets, agency / industry /special discount tickets and tickets booked under infant fares. Please check with your travel agent or the relevant airline before making a reservation to determine the eligibility of your booking fare for mileage accrual.
If you buy it on line, there should be a way to change, and before agreeing to it, you make sure te fares is mileage accruable. If you buy it from your TA, perhaps ask him/her the fare differences for the next booking level which allows you to accrue miles. BCN-AKL is a long way, i.e. lots of miles to eran.
One question, thats OT.... Was this a choice layover or was this just how SQ planned the flights? I mean, 25 hours to change a plane is way way way too long!
Life's A Bitch,
Love It
If GOD created me for only 1 reason. That reason would be to the love of my wife. If there was any other reasons involved, that would be for the love of Singapore Airlines

OP could have taken the same flight but one day earlier..with a hour's connection time.

The post directly above yours does indicate why the OP had opted for the stopover.
I'd have done the same if flying Economy on a trip of this length. After having done MEL-SIN-LHR all the way through in Economy with only about an hour or so off the plane in SIN, it's not something I'd be repeating without at least stopping over for a day or two enroute. Had 2 days in HKG on the way back which was much better.
