  • SQ Stewardesses and their watches

Weird I know, but I always pay attention to their watches whenever they hand me a drink or pass me my meal tray, myself being a huge watch fan.

Most of the time, they're wearing Rolexes or Cartier. Are they getting paid heaps or is Singapore Airlines giving them a discount voucher at Hour Glass or something. And you can see them strotting down in the Louis Vuitton luggages in Changi.

    Your Jealousy,

You're not that unusual: I admire watches too.

On one flight (SIN-LHR, I think), the FA and I bonded as we complimented each other about our taste in watches. I opened the conversation by praising the way her Tank Française suited her.

Well, they do get paid decently. Do bear in mind, they have access to the world's best bargain of branded goods in relative ease, as they travel a lot. Be it the LV in Paris or Mulberry in London or even the A grade Gucci in China

You don't think they are real do you ?. They get 'em from Patpong on the SQ978 stopover runs.

Of course, they are real, but I do believe there are still very small minority who prefer the comfort of non real stuff

I admire yours. Or is envy a better word?

I had a meeting with a very famous ex British Prime Minister last week about half way through the meeting I noticed just how huge his watch was and that was it all I could do for the rest of the meeting was try to see what brand it was (whilst still of course pretending I was listening to what he was saying). Unfortunately I failed utterly.

If it was *truly* huge, it may have been one of those russian made divers watches

                      ...yes, that's actual size!!

Real or not... Aiya. It is not what you have, but how you wear them...

What do they use it for? Ballast?

Timely thread though...my el cheapo Timex just conked out after I wore it in the steam room once too often. And since I'm in Bangkok, I think I'm going to shop around for a Rollex or a Briteling

A lot of people like to make fun of imitation goods. Here is my story...

One of my numerous trips to Bangkok, I decided to splurge on a top grade imitation IWC. I spend almost SGD200.00 on it. I wore it for many years until...

                            My house caught fire... Seriously.

All my watches melted including an original Tag Heuer which was valued at SGD800.00! The glass bubbled and fused onto the watch face. If my Tag was such, no need to ask what happened to the rest of my Swatches.

However, this IWC was still alive... Charred no doubt, BUT IT WAS STILL TICKING! It lived on for another 3 more days before it decided to breathe its last and silently passed away.
