  • SQ (Y) or LX (C) SIN-BKK-SIN

    Hi,
Sorry. I planning to make a trip to Bangkok , either end of April / May.
I found that that the price between SQ Y class and LX C class , the price difference isnt that wide.

So which airline do u recommend?
Which seat is the best to choose for both SQ and LX..

    Thanks.

I fly SQ 2-3 times a month on this route. Economy is fine. It's only 2 hours after all!!! What is the difference in price? If it's minimal then take LX. However, I would think that you would have a better choice of timings for the SQ flight.

Might as well take C, if the timings fit... C is always better than Y crammed at the back.

        Thanks. How about service wise?

At the end of the day.... C > Y.

LX service is pretty good. Friendly and attentive FAs. Food is decent. Presentation isn't as good as SQ C but the quality is pretty good all the same. If you're into the reds - LX has some excellent Swiss pinot noirs!

You also get their long haul product in J as it's a tag-flight from ZRH. You probably won't need the flat bed for such a short hop, but it's a good way to test the waters if you're thinking of flying LX C long haul in future.

The LX C fare on that segment is rather keenly priced as I recall.

Do you mean that I will also get the long haul product even though i am in C?

Not sure what you mean here. Everyone on LX182/183 gets the long haul product, not just C pax.

As for the original topic...this is a no brainer really. C is C is C is C......

              Did i mention that C is C?

                Yes I meant C.

edited to add: Here's my review of the flight from Feb 2007:

I travelled to Swiss on a discounted business Class fare to BKK and back to SIN, deserting Singapore Airlines.

It was an intersting experience and while I did derive pleasure and value and convenience from it, I wouldn't say that it was worth the money. Asothers have mentioned, the flight is very short.

I would say that on both sectors I probably only slept for about 15 - 20 minutes and was the only one to put it into bed mode I think. I also found the seat short for sleeping and it was hard putting myself into a position where my body could combat the downwards angle movement.

Maybe not this time but if you want to try other carriers on this route, there's also CX who also sometimes (or always ?) offer cheap deals for SIN-BKK-SIN in J. The last time I took it, it was rather pleasant being 1 of the 3 pax on the 747 UD.

I haven't flown on CX for a while, so I don't know too much about CX.
Do they use 77A on SIN-BKK route?

I don't fly CX enough to know.

I just checked - I paid S$498 all inclusive for my CX SIN-BKK-SIN tix in J last August - it was a special offer through the CX Singapore website.

You must be one of those SQTalk winers I've been reading about

Having done both, I recommend the LX route.

Their South African Whites are great as well. Just skip their Swiss Riesling, it was bad.....
