  • SFO on way as SQ's #1 destination in NA?

    starting october, with SIN-TPE-LAX gone, both NYC & LAX would be left with 1 x 345 & 1 x 744 each on a daily basis followed by IAH getting a 77W 4 x week & YVR a 772 3 x week.

    & SFO is elevated to 1 380 (before fall) & 1 x 77W both flights daily.

fair enough to infer that SFO would be SIA's #1 North American destination in the months to come.

So SQ1 and return flight SQ2 goes to A380, would this service start with the 5th or 6th delivery in the Fall you think?

They have to do something about their SFO lounge!!!!! Wayyyyyyyyy to small

SFO A380 service will (hopefully) start with the delivery of 9V-SKF.

        744s are F12 J50 while A380s are R12 J60.
So there are 10 more J seats.
I don't think it's gonna make that big of a difference.
But, it would be really nice if SKL would switch location with RCC next door

God that would be great, but I would rather see them move their lounge in HKG first, preferably somewhere with a window, and fix the plumbing so the showers open again!

UA won't be giving up their RCC in SF, but maybe they can loan it out for SQ1since it's not in use at that time of the early morning.

SQ F, J, PPS and EG passengers are also invited to use the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, which is a better experience altogether. (bear in mind it would be a long walk to your gate as SQ tends to leave from gates 1-33, but VSCH is at gate 60. About 15 mins).

I came back via SQ2 and had walk back to use the Red Carpet Club to take a shower as the Silver Kris shower is inop due to plumbing problems.

Never thought about the Virgin Clubhouse, good point!

Have you actually used the VS CH at SFO when traveling on SQ? I've tried and the TSA wouldn't let me through and directed me over to the Star Alliance side where SQ departs. I seem to recall being welcome in the UA F lounge as an SQ F passenger, but went to the SKL instead because of the Internet connection.

The VS Clubhouse is Landside. Take the elevators on the left before security to the 4th floor. The only trouble is that the VS flight leaves late afternoon, so it probably will not be open for SQ1. SQ15 is another story.....

The last time I took SQ15 the Clubhouse was not open when I checked in.

I think the VS flight check-in counters opened when SQ15 took off (which was around midday IIRC).

IIRC the lounge is open longer hours now as Virgin America passengers can pay to enter.
