  • LHR - SIN (Y), then SIN - ICN (F). Lounge?

    Hello all,

I'll be flying SQ317 LHR-SIN, connecting to SQ602 SIN-ICN in early April. Unlike my username, I am no longer Star Gold so I will have to rely on the boarding passes to get access to the lounge.

Obviously I'll be eligible to use the SKL F at SIN, that's easy enough, but my question is how about LHR? Should I just go to the airport late-ish to avoid having to kill time in the general holding pen, or go a bit earlier (if I can safely establish some comfortable way of waiting around)?

(I suppose it would be really asking for far too much to have access to the VS CH at LHR )

And while I'm at it, can I use the F check-in at LHR or do I need to go to the Y check-in? My god, it's been ages since I've had to wait at the general queues - I'm still trying to get used to the idea!

PS. On the return, my connection time at SIN is <24hrs but overnight. Do they through-check luggage on such overnight connections when on separate tickets?

    Thanks!

Are you checking-in at LHR for SIN-ICN in F? If so, I would see no problem with using the F check-in, and to use your F boarding pass to access the lounge facilities.

Definitely go to the F check-in counter at LHR and ask to check-in all the way through to ICN. If you're in F from LHR to SIN, then you will certainly have access to the SKL at LHR. Ask about the VS clubhouse if it isn't offered to you.

You can also check your baggage from LHR to ICN no problem.

Hmm. So, as long as I can obtain the SIN-ICN BP at LHR, is the consensus that I will be able to use the SKL F at LHR (at least)? I assume they can issue the BP in LHR even though it's on separate tickets, because both legs are on SQ. It really shouldn't be a problem, should it?

I might turn up quite early in that case! zvezda: how do I go about requesting access to the VS CH? Do I have to just show the BP at the CH reception?

          Things are looking up!

You might have a problem getting CH access with your SIN-ICN BP. They could argue that it isn't a same-day departure.

Doesn't hurt to ask, of course.

Ask about the VS clubhouse at check-in, after you're already checked-in for SIN-ICN. You still haven't told us in which class of service you're ticketed for LHR-SIN. Everyone seems to be guessing Y.

zvezda: I put it in the title but forgot to put it in the main text - LHR - SIN is in glorious whY At least I'm on the A380 and the sheer novelty factor of the whalejet is killing me already.

As for asking at check-in, do they actually issue an invitations of some description for teh CH at the check-in? Either way, now I'm convinced to go to the airport early because I seem to be able to at least access the SQ SKL, and if I get the VS CH then it's just a bonus.

Sorry for not paying close attention to the title. Don't bet a finger that you'll have access to the SKL at LHR, but I think your chances are good.

Stargold, they don't issue invitations to the CH. Just go through to Departures, clear security, then go up the staircase (which itself is quite impressive). Show your BP to the person standing at the door & try your luck. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks guys for all the help.

On the A380 in Y, is the upper deck window seat okay? Are there storage bins next to the window seats a la Upper Deck of 744? I can't pre-select seats because I booked the ticket through a TA, so I'll be waiting by the computer for the online checkin opening...!
