Heathrow Closed on 21 March 2025 due to Substation Fire - SQ Diversions

A fire at a nearby electrical substation has resulted in Heathrow AIrport closing for at least the rest of today. As can be expected for such a major travel hub, there is widespread travel chaos.

Many diversions for SQ flights today, including:

SQ322 diverted to FRA
SQ306 diverted to CDG
SQ308 got as far as the Bay of Bengal before returning to SIN (!)

For other airlines, yesterday's BA12 got diverted from LHR to LGW (Not too bad) whereas QF1 was diverted to CDG.

Here is the flightradar24 track of today's SQ308. All the way to the Bay of Bengal, then a u-turn back to Singapore, landing about 4.30pm, 7 hours after take-off.
