  • SIA and Scoot to Ban Use and Charging of Power Banks on Flights from April (ST)

News just in...SQ and Scoot will ban both use and charging of power banks onboard flights from April 2025.

Given recent incidents on other airlines, I guess it was inevitable given the risks of lithium ion batteries.

On a more positive note, at least phones, tablest and laptops (all of whom also have lithium ion batteries) are still allowed. Most SQ aircraft also have A/C power and USB charging, so it is less of an issue on SQ.

On Scoot, the A/C power is on chargeable basis, so this may cause some inconvenience.

I’m flying SQ in a few weeks and I am aware of this. Can we take our power bank onboard but not use?
