  • Can anyone confirm that seats 12 A/K on the A380 are smaller?

    Hello,

I am travelling on the A380 from LHR-SIN and the only window seat left in the foward cabin is 12K. I heard some people say that only 11 A/K are smaller seats, but I have also heard that 12 A/K are 4 inches smaller width wise too. Can anyone confirm/deny this who has travelled in these seats? Should I stick with 12k or move to a window seat in the rear business class cabin

    Thanks so much.

yes both 11/12 or 12/13 (can't remember but the first 2 rows of bus class) window seats are smaller, i was on 12a syd->sin 2 weeks ago and its noticeably smaller, but does not affect comfort.

Yes it is narrower. in order for the aisle sides to remain flush with the other seats whilst taking into account fuselage taper at the front of the UD, 11AK and 12AK are compromised.

For 12AK, though the seats are 4 inches narrower, you are compensated with extra 2 inches for seat pitch. Probably a better deal since most people don't really need all the 34 inches of seat width anyway. 11AK are the bulkhead seats, so there are plenty of space available in terms of seat pitch, 4 inches narrower doesn't really the comfort level.

Agree, partly - very few people need the 34 inches of width.. sitting up, however, it DOES compromise the length of your bed when lying down somewhat.

IMHO, they're the most awful seats in the house. Absolutely shockingly poor.

If you would like to stay in the front cabin which can be more exclusive, I would recommend 15K.

Agree with others here. 11AK and 12AK are not preferred.

Agree that 11AK, 12AK is the worst deal. Personally, i prefer 17AK.

                  Why is Row 15 recommended

Hi, can pls help to advise why Row 15 is recommended? Would 15A be better than 15K due to position of the lavatory?

                  Many thanks!

If you are referring to the newer 380e variant, the proximity to the galley is more an issue than the toilet. All can be fixed with a pair of ear plugs and eye shade ... and melatonin.

I would strongly advice against 17AK. Open view into the galley and the noise is unbearable. That seat is even worse than 11/12 AK.

A380 has no decent window seats. 11DF and 18DF are the only bulkhead seats that offer plenty of space, the rest of the seats is average.

There is no row 13. It starts at row 11 then goes 12,14,15,16. (front cabin)

I normally go for 15K (I find the proximity to the toilet better than the galley) or 15A, (If not downstairs in 3F ) but if those have gone 14K and 14A will do. 11A is the worst followed by 11k.

I m going to fly on SQ231 (SIN-SYD) at the end of May, so I guessed that gonna be the older variant, with Y seats at the back of the upper deck.

It gonna be my first time on A380, and my 2nd time in J in my life (my 1st J trip will be at the end of the mth, from TPE-SIN).

I am actually booked on seat 14K. But I sort of read somewhere that 15A or 15K (last row of the forward J cabin) offers more privacy? Behind 15K is the lavatory and behind 15A is a closet.

I have seen the seatmap for the older variant, the galley seemed to be quite a distance away from the forward J cabin?

I'm not sure what privacy you're looking for but unless you get a Suite, there isn't much. The seatmaps on seatguru and even on SQ's website, can be a bit deceiving in that it may give an impression of a lot of space when in reality, open space is limited.
