  • connecting to SQ at LAX

I need to fly from SFO to LAX to connect to SQ11 LAX-SIN next month.

I have minimal recent experience with LAX, but know enough that it's not quite as seamless as connecting thru SIN T3...

Anyway, question is, should I choose UA or VX to maximise convenience and minimise connection time? How long should I safely budget for the connection time?

    Thanks.

SQ depart from TBIT at LAX , and if im not mistaken VX arrives at one of the UA terminals 6 ( UA also uses 7) . With UA , you will definitely be allowed to check bags from SFO thru to SIN . I don't know if VX has interline agreements with SQ so you may have to claim your bag and re check it at the other terminal.
You can walk from T6 to the Tom Bradley Int Term, or take a shuttle.
Im sure others here can give you more info too .

both VX and UA are located directly next to each other. VX is in terminal 6, UA is in both terminal 6 and terminal 7. If i were you, i would choose VX. Because there is a lot less VX traffic, etc., your chances of having a delay are much less imo. Last year, when flying UA out of SFO to LAX, and onwards on SQ to TPE, my UA flight in SFO was delayed more than 3 hours because of inclement weather in Kansas, where the flight was arriving from. As a result, i missed my flight to TPE, which i was really upset about, beacuse they kept saying in SFO: "The plane will be here in just a few mins." If they would have been honest, i could have booked a flight on another airline. VX has already been praised for it's on-time arivals and departures, plus the seat is absolutely great. Once you exit terminal 6, go to your left. LAX is shaped like a big horseshoe, and the tom bradley international airport is at the bottom of the U. It takes about 8 mins to walk there. I would give myself about 1hr 45 mins of time from scheduled arrival to departure. LAX can sometimes have rediculously long taxi-ing.

For an able-bodied person, it is much faster and easier to walk than to take the shuttle. Just go outside, turn left, and walk until the sidewalk curves around to the right. Then go inside. It's just a few hundred meters.

I completely concur...especially since most of you know my love for VX...and hatred for UA.

I'm a UA MillionMiler, so no one has more reasons to avoid flying UA than I do. I should try VX. Thanks.

I would say take UA for the best conecting times between SFO-LAX...many timings a day, so incase u miss the flight there is one about 1/2 hr - 1 hr away...

What if I were to fly the other way? (LAX - SFO, connecting to SQ).

What airline to take? Will bags be checked from LAX onto SQ? Also, what is the minimum transfer time?

                  Thanks

again, i would take virgin america. especially because virgin america flies into the sfo international terminal, making getting to your international flight very easy. you can get your bags checked thru.
