  • Check through on seperate ticket

As per the subject, SQ website explanation not as clear cut.

Bad planning on my part. If I am flying into SIN on a ticket and I decide to book another ticket to KUL also with SQ. Can I check through my baggage? If not then i just have to book a flight that gives me time to exit immigration and check-in again. Hopefully there is no issue.

    Anyone done this before.
    Thank you.

Hi SQ218! Looks possible, but best to call or chat with SQ customer service to confirm!

I used their chat recently on another issue, and was connected to a live agent to chat with within 1-2 min of clicking on the chat button. From this page https://www.singaporeair.com/get-help go to the bottom right of the page and click "Chat now"

All I got was a chat bot and not even and option to connect to live agent LOL

Doesn't say if allowed on two seperate ticket.
If your itinerary includes connecting flights operated by Singapore Airlines and our partner airlines, your baggage may be through-checked to your final destination. Click here to view our partner airlines.
This is seem to be my case.
Your baggage may not be through-checked if
        • The ticket for your connecting flight has been booked separately or
        • You start your travel with Scoot and end your travel with other airlines.
Looks like I might just have to make a call.

An update. found the trick. On the chat screen ask to be put through to a live agent.

They can't even give a definitive answer. Said it is up to the check in agent to confirm when you check in,

Since it is going to be a separate booking. please approach the check in counter and present your booking to them and confirm if they can have it check through.

At the end of May I did SIN-FRA on SQ landing ~6pm with a flight to EDI the following day around 11am on LH and a separate return ticket. Check-in counter at T3 checked baggage all the way through and checked me into the LH flight as it was outside their 36hrs OCI window.

At EDI on Monday, I did the same in reverse with LH counter staff checking baggage to SIN.

So, no guarantees ever, but if you are SQ-to-SQ then I would say should be doable. Through the years it has generally worked but I remember one schedule transiting in BKK on separate tickets and they caused some hassle between TG and BR but in the end that was also done but I had to reconfirm at a transit desk in BKK with luggage tag.

Thanks scooby5. Managed to find more info through Google search and found SQ to SQ are more likely to be favorable as well.
