Definitely a sad situation being stuck for 8+ hours I'm sure. The video tells me that SQ handled this more or less well. Even the pilot had felt the same way, trying his best to reassure everyone of the issue while also sympathizing with the pax. Reassurance and relating to the pax is what people like, that helps them feel more at ease.

At the same time, they could have given an opportunity for pax to get out of the aircraft for a bit for some fresh air if they felt it was going to take at least an hour.
