  • SQ moving to new T3 at PEK from 26 March

Singapore Airlines flights will operate from Beijing Capital International Airport’s new Terminal 3 with effect from Wednesday 26 March 2008. The first flights in and out of the new terminal will be SQ812 into Beijing from Singapore at 0720 hrs and SQ811, departing Beijing for Singapore at 0845 hrs.

“Singapore Airlines is pleased to be operating from the new Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3,” said Singapore Airlines General Manager China, Ho Yik Wing.

“The brand new Terminal 3 gives us the opportunity to deliver a superior experience to our customers in a sophisticated international terminal with modern facilities.”

Terminal 3 is located approximately 25km or 30 – 45 minutes’ drive from downtown Beijing City. The new terminal is located approximately 5km away from the current terminals 1 and 2.

Customers can proceed to Check-In Area E for check-In on Singapore Airlines flights. Counters open 3 hours, and close 60 minutes, before flight departure. Customers are advised to check-in early, preferably 3 hours before flight departure, to avoid congestion.

Singapore Airlines also offers Internet check-in from 48 hours before flight departure. Customers who have performed Internet check-in can also print out their own boarding pass at their own convenience. There will be dedicated counters to serve Internet Check-in passengers for quicker check-in.

Certainly the case in my experience - I once arrived a few minutes after T-60 (for a KL flight) and was denied check-in!

That would be right... 21 days short of getting to see T3. PEK T2 is horrid and the lounge for J horrid. Sitting waiting for check-in top open.. horrid. Silly me for going to airport way early. Getting on the SQ Flight an hearing the engines throttle up and heading home after four countries in 15 days... nice!

Will transit facilities be good too? Since this terminal will also house ALL Star Alliance Airlines including Air China, it will be a good advantage to transit at this hub.
