Yes, it wasn't a great day for SIA yesterday was it.

Anyway, SQ345 incurred an incident as the article said.

The aircraft is undergoing an engine change in New Delhi. Singapore Airlines Engineering Company and General Electric are investigating the surge, the cause of which is unknown (as of yesterday, I just woke up).

Singapore Airlines staff in Delhi initiated service recovery for the affected passengers.

The aircraft seems to be still in DEL.

Shouldn't this be SWK instead of SMK?

Where did you get the info from? The aircraft involved is 9V-SWA, 3rd incident this time.

So strange for so many problems with the GE90-115B.

As I know, this engine got 90% up reliability, and it uses many new technologies such as the 3D design, spiral shaped fan blades and very high bypass ratio. Also the engine's main shaft is made of a brand new alloy which can afford a very high stress, and working with FADEC, the fan's rotation speed is lower than the traditional one to reduce noise. Maybe it was the failure of the on-board computer.

Have any similar problems (i.e. failure or related incident) been reported to aircrafts of other airlines regarding this particular engine type?
