  • SQ A345 Questions?

    Hi All,
My first post....Really enjoying being part of the SQTalk community.

A few questions regarding SQ's A345 fleet and utilization.

    1) Has SIA begun rebranding them with the larger/bolder name and tail logo?
    2) Does SIA retain a spare A345 in EWR and LAX for back-up?
    3) Is SIA moving forward on refitting to all "J" class? When?
    4) Any updates on SIA desire to trade-in A345s for 772LRs?
    5) Why only Jakarta (CGK) with two daily R/T?
    6) Any truth to rumor that SIA will discontinue EWR service in mid 2008?
    7) When is SIA retiring A345s from fleet?

    Thanks everybody....

    1) Doesn't seem to be the case yet

    2) No but the fifth aircraft is a spare.

    3) Most likely / by the end of FYQ2 or early FYQ3.

    4) The B772LR failed the tests on the economics of buying them.

    5) To facilitate pilot's requirements for a minimum number of takeoffs and landings per month I think.

    6) Absolutely not.

    7) Hopefuly by 2015 at the latest? Surely one of the new generation aircraft can make a better profit on these routes by being more fuel efficient / lighter etc....

Any updates on the rumored reconfiguration of SQ's A345? I'm watching this forum regularly for news. Last I checked, SQ was still selling Y+ on the LAX flights into September, but Y+ not available on the EWR flights from late June.

this is really interesting... i had neveer thought about this.
There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways
