  • SIN - CMB in Economy

I am booked in SQ "L" booking class from SIN to CMB in a few months. The SQ flight is the final segment of a UA "H" one-way fare LAX-CMB. LAX-UA-SIN upgraded to business class with UA miles.

Is there a way I can upfare with SQ directly to fly in business class on the SIN-CMB segment? Would appreciate any tips.

My ticket is already booked and did not upfare the SIN-CMB segment when ticketing with UA because booking the final segment in any business class booking code caused the fare to break at SIN (and the price to go-up over USD1000).

Assuming I am stuck in economy for this night flight, should I expect a packed flight on a summer Monday night flight? <I tend to think not given the mid-week flight, higher SQ economy fares pushing most passengers to UL/EK, and chatter on this board that cargo is the reason SQ even flies the route>.

This flight is normally full in Y and light in F/C. Also, don't be surprised if it gets rescheduled to the daytime given the end of the ceasefire. If you dress nicely, you might have a chance at an op-up, though not a very good chance. When you get to SIN, you can ask SQ what it would cost to up-fare to C.

Well, duh. Of course I can ask about the upfare at SIN. However, I am asking this board for advise on their past experiences with upfaring. My situation is somewhat interesting in that I am on a UA fare with only a final SQ segment. The upfare would seem to be impossible to calculate in this case. So, does SQ offer a flat upfare price for these ocasions when it is not possible to calculate the segment value.

My monitoring of SQ availability for mid-week flights in the next few days always shows 9s for most economy booking classes. i.e. 9s for L on this Monday's flight. Would seem to suggest economy is not always booked full as you suggest.

I don't see any reason why SQ wouldn't be able to calculate the fare difference.

Sometimes, when SQ are heavily oversold in Y, rather than off-loading passengers, they will offer upgrades for $500. I've only seen it once.
