  • Extra SQ Boarding Pass

    Hi,

Have anyone tried asking SQ check-in agents to print out a spare boarding pass? Tried to ask an LX check-in agent for a spare boarding pass, but my request was flatly rejected. Do SQ have a strict policy on this?

Will be nice to keep a complete boarding pass as a memento. Any idea of 'stunning' that out?

    Thanks.

I think it could be a security risk (not that I am implying you are one though).

Unlikely as some other airlines let you print your own boarding pass and (unlike SQ) there's no need to validate them so you can print out more than one.

Printing a spare boarding pass is - understandably - against their regulations, for security reason.
Yes, agree that it would be nice to keep as a memento.

Yup, agreed with jhm that it is not likely a security risk. Apart from the day of travel, the boarding pass is basically useless. Also, each boarding pass is specific to a person's name.

It is not only SQ. Tried to request for an extra boarding pass for a LX flight, and was flatly rejected too.

but it could well be a security risk..

HKG immigration entry points just requires the officer to check that you have a valid boarding pass - checks with passport not necessary.
if using e-channel (hkid holders), no one checks it,
and then checking at departure gates i find to be random.

so, i guess if two people use a boarding pass under teh same name, it wouldnt be discovered till the gate area!

But in SIN, it's a very different story. They will match the boarding pass with ** passport name. Even before the Automated Clearance System gate, an immigration officer will check your boarding pass again. In fact, in most places such as BKK, XMN, KUL and CGK, immigration officers will need to see your boarding pass. And in some of them, the immigration officers have to 'endorse' the boarding pass with the relevant immigration chop.

In fact, I see no reason why people entering the airside are considered a security risk. If so, airports around the world should set up security screening points immediately after immigration. Instead, people with ill intention who holds a proper boarding pass are the real security threats.

Well I accidentally got a complete SQ boarding pass when I traveled to United States. Here's how I get it.

I was on SQ (Taipei- LAX), UA (LAX-Philadelphia). I got 2 boarding pass in Taipei (SQ and UA both printed in SQ boarding pass). When I was in LAX, I still requested for real UA boarding pass. I used real UA borading pass for security and boarding. So I have a complete spare boarding pass printed with SQ.

Maybe you can do it in similar ways.

I too got an extra boarding pass but this was because I had done a RCI when departing from Singapore but I changed my return flight and they did not ask for the boarding pass back. It is sitting pretty in my office with a blue "Priority Passenger" sticker.

The lounge agents at SKL (T2) do not check boarding passes thoroughly (usually)

So you could ask for 2 first class boarding passes and use the spare boarding pass the next time round (when not travelling in first) and use that to enter the SKL F section !!

Maybe that's why they don't issue the extra BP as a matter of procedure.

                        Is this idea feasible?

Thought of an idea, but wonder if it is fool-proof or feasible although it may be a bit more tedious. It involves doing downtown check-in at Paragon the day before the flight. On the day of the flight, I will check in my luggage at the airport as usual and I will tell the agent that I lost my boarding pass. Hence, they have to print me a new boarding pass. In case that something goes wrong, I will still bring along the boarding pass that I obtained from the Paragon office.

BTW, will Paragon issue the new type of boarding pass (as shown on my profile pic) or the older type of BP?

To sidetrack a bit, what will happen if someone indeed lost his boarding pass after check in. Will he be refused boarding, or will they print out a new BP?

                        Thanks

They now scan your BP instead of inserting it to the little machine before you enter the gate lounge.

Old BPs ex-overseas stations still need to be inserted into the machine.

Is this a T3/SQ thing or is the whole airport doing this now?
