  • SQ to screen Tamil blockbuster in air

For the first time in its history, Singapore Airlines has bought the airborne rights of an Indian movie for its in-flight entertainment. The Tamil blockbuster 'Sivaji' will now be shown on its flights.

I'm not of Tamil nor Indian background, but nonetheless would be great for airline's consumers of that ethnicity or anyone else who has passion for such movies.

It could be in Hindi, but I'm sure there is Tamil. Since Tamil is one of the official languages of Singapore. Sorry, I don't really check such stuff out 'cos I just turn to the channel I want. LOL.

That is what I thought as well...

          Edited to add:

I see SQ has bought exclusive rights to show this film, which is the difference.

As per the deal, Singapore Airlines gets to enjoy three months exclusivity to show its passengers the Tamil movie.
It's not showing on any other airline--that's the airborne exclusivity.

I hope SQ didn't pay a lot extra for the exclusivity. I don't think many passengers will fly SQ rather than another carrier just to see that film.
