That might mean another A380 being retired?

Moreover, it seems the refurbishment of A380 might mean no more Economy class cabin on the upper deck?
My take would be it's just a timing issue - SKA has been taken out of service whilst the first arrival of the new batch (presumably SKU) is yet to join the fleet. Should be back to 19 once SKU joins in October, unless there are any delays.

18 because Kilo-Alpha has been retired, taking it down from 19 in the fleet, to 18.

      • There was 19 in service, 1 taken out and that means 18 left.

Perhaps that's something with internal fittings?

Was wondering the same but the production list says "On order, outfitted in XFW" which seems to suggest cabin has been installed?

                • I had thought the first registration would be SKU, allocating SK+UVWYZ in series to the 5 new orders. Is it just the case that SKV will be the first registration ready before SKU or do we know if SKU has been skipped? I'd doubt we would every see an SKX, so if no SKU, the last one will end up completely on its own with S*A.

There is SKU. MSN 243, Test registration: F-WWAQ. She's currently undergoing cabin fitting in Hamburg.

                      • Still intrigued by the different port and starboard side window layouts of the upper deck first class on the new birds.
In case the retrofit the current planes, do they also change the window layout?

If they did change the 77W window layout while retrofitting, that can still hold for the A380.

As far as the poster posting SKU and SKV, looks nice and yes, it looks ready, but as far as the cabin fittings that's a possibility, but again, these two birds can be delivered well before 2018 begins. Please keep posted if anything changes.

Yes SIA have parked 9V-SKA since June this year ahead of its return to its lessor in Octiber. Hence only 18 A380s in service until the new ones arrives.

                              • It clearly states that the delivery can still take place this year. So 14 out of 15 will be retrofitted? Is it because the 15th one is on lease and getting returned like SKA-SKE?
