The main issue holding up delivery is the problem with the Kioto Business Class seats. Hopefully, she'll be delivered in January.

      • Hmmm....
I spy an extra window after the door 3R on the upper deck of SKL. I wonder why?

Is it because of this? http://www.sqtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10465

          • A380 aircrafts

            Singapore Airlines has now 11 A388 (SKA-SKK).
Is there a difference in these 11 aircrafts or are all of the 11 aircrafts the same?
I've heard that the aircraft SKD has a few failings.
            Is anything about this true?

              Official now

Dec. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Singapore Airlines Ltd., the world’s second-largest carrier by market value, said the introduction of its 12th Airbus SAS A380 has been delayed after Koito Industries Ltd. failed to deliver business-class seats on time.

The plane had been due for delivery this quarter and “has been delayed as a result of the issues that Koito has faced,” Nicholas Ionides, a spokesman for the carrier, said in an e-mail reply to Bloomberg queries. He said the delay isn’t affecting the airline’s current operations and he expects the plane to arrive before the end of March.

              • Okay, first time on the A380 in Jan in J class, sitting in D/F seats.

How large is the under-seat storage ? Will it fit a large carry-on roller bag ?

I have something very similar to this... http://www.antler.co.uk/catalog/1000y71.cat

Assume I'll have to use the storage above the window seats perhaps ?

                • I suspect Airbus continued making changes to the aircraft, especially in the early months/years. I am pretty sure the SKL (Construction number 58) has significant differences from SKA (Construction number 3), small changes here and there, probably lighter by a couple of tonnes etc.... The A330-300 is now significantly different from the early models.

I've not been here for a while.

I wrote and was offered nothing but platitudes and promises that my complaint about the Leading Hostess would be forwarded to SIN.

                    Quite unsatisfactory, arrogant response.

                    • 14/12/2010 I saw an A380 in Changi with engine number 4 missing. It was next to a 747 near the Cargo area. Any ideas when this will be back in service?

Not before March. It depends on when the Koito seats will be re-certified.

What else do you want? Blood?

It will be dealt with, you can rest assure. However it is not company policy to follow it up with you, ie you will not know what transpires after that as it is not your concern anymore.

One of the photos on this page shows 9V-SKL and 9V-SKM on the flightline at XFW, parked behind a Qantas WhaleJet. The red wheel covers on the SQ WhaleJets suggest that they will be parked for a long time.
