Any refurb is of no use if they do decide to just cease flying a380 forever
If the seats, etc, have already been paid for and delivered and are sitting in containers, the marginal cost of installing them might not be that high (given the precision nature of the work, a lot of the people involved may not be contract staff so have to be paid anyway). So if there is some chance that they will fly, management may want to get the refurbishment done.
The A380s will definitely fly again and the only question is when. SIA is not going to retire all its 19 A380s just like that considering that 5 of the A380s are very new. At the most SIA will need to retire a few of its older aircrafts which are over 10 years old.

it’s a speculation after all. As mentioned, things are fluid.
SIA is removing 7 of its older A380s and will operate with 12 A380s. Surprise SIA is removing 7 planes instead of the 4-5 older ones with potential wing issues.

They mentioned in a press release or something? Got link to that?
I haven't been on board MI A320/A319 before, wanted to catch it before their retirement. Then COVID-19 hits. Oh well......Historically most of their A319/A320 heads for scrapyard since they have higher MTOW and different engines compared those in market. Even young birds are not spared from scrapyard.
Wondering what SQ/MI will deploy for Koh Samui since the airport can only handle B737 classic and A319? Or are they planning to suspend the route? Guess we will only know after the pandemic blows over.
Those A380 which are still in old configuration and not refurbished guess will be first two go: 9V-SKF, SKG, SKH, SKI, SKJ, SKL and SKR. All these seven are coincidentally are still stored at Changi.
As for the rest, the 777 Classics impairment was expected. Have they mentioned anything about A333? One can only hope that the world recovers soon, if the situation persists, SQ may start shedding older B77W and TR A320ceo
don't see a mention of a380. am i missing something?
Page 2 of the linked article in post #1491 actually stated the aircract deemed surplus to requirements after a review of the SIA Group long term fleet requirements, and it includes seven A380s together with the 777-200/777-200ERs, 777-300s, A320s and A319s...
