      CGK,
i'm really interested into the matter.... are we talking about a 65-70% to MXP and 30-35% to BCN?
      Thank you for ** data

There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways

It should be a data somewhere about this. May be your contact in SQ MXP should be able to give better figures.
But yes, the percentage should be higher 75% - 80% for SIN-MXP only in C. Well I know the F class is not fully booked usually. So the C class is the money maker.

CGK, it seems SQ Italy is very reluctant to spread info about load factors....

Hmmm will try to ask around about it.
But as an example, in one of the flight, SIN-MXP was full in all classes. Then MXP-BCN load was only 2 F, 12 C, 70 Y.
              For the reverse, BCN-MXP was merely 0 F, 14 C, 80 Y. And MXP-SIN was FULL.

My Spanish is non existant but here's my take on an article by Agencia EFE - Servicio Económico.

                ---------

Comité de Desarrollo de Rutas Aéreas (CDRA) and Singapore Airlines have announced that Barcelona is going daily from 14 January 2008.

Carlos Arsequell, General Manager Spain and Portugal for Singapore Airlines hopes to double the number of passengers flying between Barcelona and Singapore with the introduction of a daily flight.

Singapore Airlines has transported 45 000 passengers on this route.

At the moment the Boeing 777-300ER can transport around 100 000 passengers on the route and with the daily service the B77W can carry 77 tonnes of cargo.

The load factor of the 4x frequency is around 85%. 24% of this comes from Italy, 24% from Spain and 10% from Singapore. The rest is from markets such as AU, NZ, VN.

"El Prat será el único aeropuerto de España que ofrezca vuelos diarios a un destino asiático operados por una única compañía."

Barcelona would need to reach 3x daily frequency to be warranted an SIA A380 frequency.

"El presidente de la corporación empresarial," Miquel Valls said that "where there is supply, demand is generated".

Are SQ able to carry cargo between MXP and BCN? If so, the tag could be profitable despite the low passenger loads.

                    Press Release about this:

Singapore Airlines is to increase the frequency of its Singapore – Milan – Barcelona service from four times weekly to daily from 14 January 2008.

The flights will all be operated by the airline’s new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring the airline's new, luxurious cabin products across all three classes. This includes the ultra-wide Business Class seat, configured in a 4-abreast, 1-2-1 setting. All seats feature the new KrisWorld, with over 1000 entertainment options, with full audio and video on demand, and a suite of office applications.

The frequency increase builds on strong demand for this service. The service initially commenced in July 2006, and customer demand for seats in both directions has built quickly.

It is the first time that an air service has connected northern Italy and eastern Spain with Singapore directly, and customers across the Singapore Airlines network have enthusiastically embraced the destinations. Singapore Airlines remains the only airline flying between Singapore and the two cities.

Milan and Barcelona are both modern Mediterranean cities, famous for their architecture and home to leading fashion and design houses. SQ378 will depart Singapore daily at 2335hrs and reach Milan’s Malpensa Airport at 0555hrs the next morning. The flight will continue on to Barcelona’s El Prat Airport, touching down at 0835hrs.

On the return journey, SQ377 will leave Barcelona at 0955hrs and reach Milan at 1135hrs. The flight then departs Milan at 1245hrs, arriving into Singapore at 0735hrs the next day.

Serving the Italian market, Singapore Airlines also flies three times weekly between Singapore and Rome. With the increase in frequency to Milan and Barcelona, Singapore Airlines now flies 77 times weekly to 12 cities in Europe.
