  • Questions on interlining QF domestic to SQ

i am planning to go singapore via (Mel-Syd-Sin), i am taking qantas from Mel-Syd then Singapore airline to Sin.

Is is possible to check in my luggage all the way to Sin at Melb domestic counter? thanks..

Yes, you should be able to do that even if the two flights are on different tickets. If the SQ flight is on an e-ticket separate from the QF ticket, then be sure to have printed documentation of your SQ ticket.

      Having just done this.......

Are you taking a QF1-399 flight or a QF400+ flight? The procedures are different.

Assuming you're on a QF400+ flight (from your post)

Yes, you can do this. QF in MEL won't give you your SQ BP's though, although your luggage will go through to SIN.

Go to the international connections counter, not the standard domestic counter (Far right in MEL QF Dom terminal).

Transfer at SYD T3 (gate 1) show the bus guy your Luggage receipt (since you won't have your BP) and take a bus over to T1. It'll drop you landside T1, you go straight to the SQ counters to pick up your BP.

And just in case you're on flight numbers QF1-399, you will need to check in at the international terminal. Treat your flight as if it's an international departure and clear immigration at MEL. As per above your bag/s will be tagged through to SIN. You'd arrive directly at the international terminal in SYD where you'd have to pick up your SQ boarding pass at the at the transfer desk.

          How about Virgin Blue?

          This is my trip plan

Virgin blue departing at 6am from melbourne and reach sydney at 7:20am

SQ220 departing from Sydney to Singapore at 8:50am.

U guyz think...i'll make it to the SQ flight? risky? lol

          thanks

That changes things a bit - Virgin will not interline you to your SQ flight as they operate on the LCC model. You have to claim and re-check your bags in SYD.

I believe Virgin operates into SYD T2. I'm not 100% sure of the best way to transfer across to T1 for your SQ flight, but I believe you can take the train.

Not sure if that kind of connection time would work but personally I'd allow more time for such a transfer.

You have a much better chance of making it if you fly QF across to SYD as they'd interline your bags to SQ. Plus QF flies into T3 where there's a complimentary bus shuttle across to T1 for all pax connecting to/from oneworld flights.

KeithMEL is right. Whilst the T3-T1 QF bus transfer is technically accessible (and you can walk from T2 to T3) - you won't have either a connecting SQ BP nor a luggage receipt to get on.

The lack of an SQ bp or a baggage receipt isn't the problem. One needs to be connecting to or from a oneworld flight (or QF codeshares operated by non OW airlines) to be eligible for the shuttle buses.
