  • 55 Minutes Transfer in Singapore

Just planning for trip from Christchurch to Taipei round-trip over the end of year break. I am looking forward to trying out the B77W between SIN-TPE!!!

It seems like on my returning flights I will only have 55 mins layover in Singapore, between SQ871 (TPE-SIN) and SQ297 (SIN-CHC) will this be enough time for me to connect between flights? Will the baggage be transferred from SQ871 to SQ297? I have been taking these flights for the past 7 years and I usually get about 2~3 Hours layover in Singapore. Please let me know if you think I should change to SQ27 (It would give me about 8 hours layover in Singapore) and I will have the chance to go on B77W again.

55 minutes is more than enough time for a layover in efficient Changi. And why shouldn't your luggage be transferred between two SIA flights?

I may be missing something, but I don't believe your SQ871 is operated with the B77W.

Well, I'm not too sure about transfers in SIN (Haven't done before). But I would sure choose to take the 77W if time permits. So I would rather you go for the SQ 27. HA! That will give you another excuse to take a 77W!

Yeah, I am aware that SQ871 is operated by B772/773 with regional seats.

The trouble with SQ27 TPE-SIN is the timing. Departing 0710 is brutal. You need to leave before 5am.

Minimum connecting time at SIN for SQ to SQ is 45 minutes. I can do it in half that.

I am not so sure whether 45 minutes connecting time will be feasible towards the end of the year. I was told by SQ agent that towards the end of the year, T3 will be used. Thus to transfer from T2 to T3 would take longer.

T3 is set to open early next year. When it does, the minimum connection time will increase.

Nothing beats connecting between TBIT and one of the other 6 terminals.

LAX is bad. So is LHR and MAN, from personal experience.

55 mins transfer time is tight and assuming there is no outbound delay ex-taipei. U maybe able to transfer to yr flight even in 30 mins if there is a delay due to any number of factors - but yr cargo bags will not make it.

I think I'll take SQ27, it gives me another opportunity to fly the 77W Although the departure time is a pain, but it would only take about an hour from my house to Taoyuan Airport so it should be fine!

I have had some very tight connections at SIN when my incoming flight has been delayed and to date only once has my luggage not made it and then there was someone at the gate to inform me that my luggage would not make it and to note down where I was staying and promising it would be delivered later in the day (which it was).

Though my absolute record is VIE where I had a 5 minute connection and my luggage made it as well.

                            5 minutes???

But connecting through Changi is fast...
Will you be able to walk from T1&2 to T3 though?

Is that 5 minutes scheduled or actual?

I've managed to get on connections standby without luggage that actually departed before my inboard flight was scheduled to arrive (because the inbound flight was early).
