  • MEL-SIN 777's

I was wondering, what type of 777 services SQ's MEL-SIN and vice-versa flights, and which of these planes have regional configuration and those with spacebeds?

  • #2
SQ218/217 - 772/3 with regional config, 77W later in the year with the new stuff
    SQ238/237 - 772/3 with regional config

The other pair of flights, SQ228/227 is a 744 with Spacebeds.

with regards to the IFE, which planes are AVOD and which aren't?

The 744 will most definitely have AVOD.

The rest will depend on the specific aircraft - I'm sure one of the others will come along in a sec to tell you the probability of getting AVOD on the 777s.

          I believe, there are 5 B773 with no AVOD, 9V-SWA to 9V-SWE...
and 16 B772 with no AVOD..
Not sure if this has changed/updated

            SWA-SWE are 77W's. Do you mean SYA-SYE?

And yes, as Keith says I'm sure there's somebody out here who can tell you exactly, but he hasn't been seen in a while.

Yes, I hope he's okay and has just been busy with other things. He posted the first reply to my first ever post on TOF and jolly helpful it was too!

Based on my previous experience flying MEL-SIN vv....the chances that the 777 flights who do not have AVOD are quite low...only flew with no-AVOD aircraft twice out of 30 flights taken for this sector....

Also, based on info from TA in melb...SQ 237/238 will be upgraded to 744 with Spacebeds during end of year peak season....so would be double 744 and 77W...

That's consistent with what I've experienced.

I can't wait for the 77Ws to land at Tullamarine! And maybe, hopefully, someday we'll see the A380s here as well...

I believe all 744s have AVOD, apart from the hated SMT?

OK, in his absence, let me try this out.

For the 3-class Regional 772 series, ie. the 9V-SQ* birds:
The first 8 out of the 14 birds (SQA to SQH) DO NOT have AVOD. That leaves 6 birds which do. Thus the probability of scoring an AVOD = 42.857142857%.

For the 2-class Regional 772 series, ie. the 9V-SR* birds:
The first 8 out of the 31 birds (SRA to SRH) DO NOT have AVOD. That leaves 23 birds which do. Thus the probability of scoring an AVOD = 74.193548387%.

For the Regional 773 series, ie. the 9V-SY* birds:
The first 5 out of the 12 birds (SYA to SYE) DO NOT have AVOD. That leaves 7 birds which do. Thus the probability of scoring an AVOD = 58.333333333%.

Of course, the fleet also comprises the 772ER series (9V-SV* birds) and 773ER series (9V-SW* birds) aircraft, but these are long-haul config aircraft, so they're not covered in this discussion. For the record, all (100.000000000%) of the aircraft in these series come with AVOD.

                          Hope the above helps!

Interesting, I thought SQ had a shortage of 744s. Perhaps they'll use an ex. MH aircraft here as only one aircraft is needed to maintain a daily SQ237/8. Not sure when the second aircraft (9M-MPC/9V-SPS) is due for delivery.
