From the home base, there is demand strength from business travellers and these passengers need fastest, flexibility, and high frequency. We are paying for staff to travel SQ to India paying $1,300-1400 even when competition is selling $500 or even less. Even when SQ is selling promo fares, the company still sends people on flexi fares.
I wouldn't say that SQ ignores local leisure demand though. In the past, may be. But these days, promos are frequent. Fares are competitive if booked at the right times, and far in advance. Even business fares to India is regularly selling at $2,200 to Delhi on the A380! That is just 5-10% more than Air India!
I am not complaining. I think SQ has done their best in the situation they are in.
