Just seen this on the SQ Facebook. Does anyone know what is new about it?

Looks to be an all new interface, presumably with more intuitive controls and more features. The old "new" system on the 77W had a few interface issues and was a bit slow and buggy at times, so seems as though they've built from ground up to sort out the problems.

I actually thought reading this in regards to the A350, I thought the regional A350's will get Thales. Someone mentioned from SML onwards will be regional versions.

Yea you're right. The current IFE on the A350/77WN/77WR seems pretty choppy. Irks me to think that the eX2 system on the A330/A380/77W performs more smoothly at times than the eX3. Let's hope this new one irons out the problems.

I don't like the touch screen interface of the controller of the 77WN. overly sensitive and often times i accidentally exit a movie due to non-intentional swipes.

my recent experience with A330 Y and 77W recently have been quite disappointing..

laggy movie plays, damaged earphone jacks, and dead pixels on screen.

they used to give KS vouchers if the flight is full and unable to seat you elsewhere. all they give me now is 2 packs of cards.

The headset is what I'm personally worried about. Most of the time I tend to never watch movies (much), but I do listen to music and use the entertainment system even if I listen to songs from my iPod touch (Now done with my iPhone). With people mentioning that they will have cheap-o headsets as opposed to what they used to have before, I wonder what big movie watchers will have to put up with then. My mom is definitely big on watching some movies and listening to music on the IFE so having told her that this is what SQ could have and what you all said, I think I'll have to invest in a separate external headphone jack that can easily connect my regular headphones (still cancels a little bit, if not too much noise). She's equally worried because she's flying out this Sunday and knows that she'll be so bored given that SQ31 is an all-daytime flight.

The (new) headsets in Biz aren't good either. On a recent flight I got two broken headsets before they finally gave me one which was working. Pretty cheapo staff that easily breaks. The old ones were definitely of better quality and more durable. Someone in purchasing made a pretty cheap deal...

I'm fine with the cheap-o headsets as I said. But no, not gonna upgrade at all. Again not too heavy of a movie watcher but the responses got me thinking. Maybe if I am ever KFG, I will consider. My father isn't too much of a heavy movie watcher either. Now if she took SQ1, she could sleep perfectly fine and not bother too much. But anyway, I am yet to see next Friday what's up on my 77WN flight.
