I see. If this is going to be the case for the 77WN's going to maintenance and getting map upgrades 1 by one, this will mean 2-3 weeks per 77WN out of service. This will likely be another 6-9 weeks more if it goes up to SNA (SWZ will likely undergo regular maintenance check since people pointed out it has the 3D map app anyway), then those people are right, temporarily SQ318/319 are no longer "untouchable" and I think there might be regular occurrences with swaps to older 77W from time to time. My guess is after they upgrade the 77WN maps, they will proceed back to refits even if some of those planes will be configured to 77WN or 77WR. Again just a guess but your evidence is likely telling me so.

Being nostalgic, I used to love SQ320 into LHR on the Magatops. Out of LHR, I often used to use airmiles to upgrade to Raffles Class out of LHR on either SQ319 or SQ317 - always chose an upper deck seat. Got to LHR early and headed for the SKL to grab a window seat and enjoy a few cold Tiger Beers whilst watching aircraft.

I recently went from SIN-LHR return on April 30 and Return May 17 on the SQ318 and SQ319. Both 77WN.
In the past SQ318/319 nearly always got the 2013 J seat, but last month or so has been so erratic - probably because of maintenance.
The SQ318 to London - was perfect timing in terms of timing due to midday departure and 7.30pm arrival - great for jet lag just don't nap to much on the plane. Also, as I had never travelled J class before - it was excellent to have a full day flight to experience it all !!! Lunch and Dinner meal experiences.
The SQ319 on the way back I managed to sleep 7 hours straight - even though the bedding was very hard. But I kind of missed the flight experience. So I would have preferred day time flights. Also jet lag got to me due to the 4-5pm landing in Singapore, your body is out of wack. Meal services Dinner and Breakfast. You can always 'nap' to experience the sleeping part. Lots of food and booze to consume!!

Nice! Great to hear that SQ318 is the best to experience the new J product. Can't wait for mine in Jan 2017! Though I am worried about jet lag as I normally do red eye flight to Europe.Originally posted by prozerran View PostI recently went from SIN-LHR return on April 30 and Return May 17 on the SQ318 and SQ319. I think its almost impossible for us Asian not to experience jet lag when flying back towards the east, especially the noon arrival in SG. I will taking SQ323 which will arrive back in SG at 6am to see how is the jetlag.

thanks for sharing your experience.
We usually fly Y, so for me, sleeping on a flat bed in J for a couple of hours is part of the whole J experience. haha. I'm not that big on the meals (don't eat much on flights anyway and i am allergic to alcohol)although it is nice having it on proper linen and china, and having it served course by course. I suppose i can enjoy the meals service more on my return flight from CDG since that departs at 1200 and i will likely be awake for most of the flight home to SG.
that said, I guess for SQ306 they will serve supper (at 2-3 am SG time?) since flight takes off at 0110, and perhaps breakfast (before arriving LHR at 0745)? have not been able to do any meal selection since it's so far ahead, so not sure yet what meals are included.
hope to try the famed Lobster Thermidor - either SIN/LHR, or CDG/SIN.

The meal experience in J is miles a part than Y so do take the opportunity. For SQ306 which I took last year yes they serve first meal around 2:30am SG time so it's quite awarkard then the next meal is breakfast just before the 7am arrival. You should try the lobster it is good and should be available in the meal selection closer to your take off date.Originally posted by banoffi View Postthanks for sharing your experience.

You'd probably have a more fun ride with slightly better meal service on CDG back as its day flight rather than the red eye but being a over 12 hrs flight it'll be enjoyable in J both ways.
I myself am also a non alcoholic but do try the sparking orange and Brazilian coffee my 2 favorites
Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Yah...Row 17's my favourite.Originally posted by 747-412 View PostBeing nostalgic, I used to love SQ320 into LHR on the Magatops. Out of LHR, I often used to use airmiles to upgrade to Raffles Class out of LHR on either SQ319 or SQ317 - always chose an upper deck seat.
Missed the 747's upper deck. It had a unique feel to it.

My personal favourite into LHR is SQ308, I guess the only minor negative is that for the duration of the flight it's day time. That's neither here or there if everyone keep their window blinds down!
It gets you into LHR around 3.30pm, I've never had much issue with immigration at that time. It also means that you can check into any hotel once departing the airport at that time, settle in, grab some dinner and go to bed at a reasonable hour without disrupting the day. Jet lag has never been an issue on this flight for me.
Just lately I've been on SQ322, and while this is better connection wise for me (coming from MEL), it lands in LHR approximately 6am. Heathrow can be very congested at that time. You then have to keep yourself busy all day before getting sleep. This flight tends to knock me around for a day or two after.
The flights leaving LHR are all much of a muchness, I probably prefer SQ319 or SQ321 in terms of the times leaving LHR and arriving into SIN, but these both have me arriving into MEL early morning, which isn't ideal. Over the last few weeks I've been on SQ305 twice, never tried this option before, and apart from the early departure time I enjoyed it. I stayed overnight at the airport to avoid a ridiculously early start from elsewhere. 305 tends to have a lighter load than 317 in my past experiences, probably because of the early departure and also because both flights have great onward connections to AUS. Of the two 305 would be my selection if departing in the morning.
SQ308 is by far the best flight to LHR in my honest opinion.
