  • 9V-SMA gone tech 14/05/2016

Currently typing this in SKL, Flight was delayed from 0200 then 0400 and they couldn't resolve the issue and we were assigned 9V-SWT, which is another delayed flight from PVG. Interestingly, spotted Mr Goh Choon Phong departing for a trip himself.

That's the problem about them having just 2 A350's. If SMC doesn't get delivered very soon it will cause swaps to a 77W especially because of the fact there are only 2 frames to go around to do AMS, which is not enough for a long flight; not to mention maintenance. SQ should have thought of this before jumping into putting an A350 to AMS. At the very minimal they could have used SQ15's frame 9V-SWN (77WR) which arrived at 1AM, yet still has PEY.

I seriously wonder what happened to passengers booked on PEY? Downgraded to Y class or upgraded to J?

That really is terrible luck, especially after they've been so conservative already with setting back the launch date as long as they did. Amazing to think how different things will be in exactly a year from now when they should have at least 14 A359s in their fleet.

Understand from the crew 9V-SMA has a bird strike. The poor PEY folks had to slump it in Y as 9V-SWT is still on 8/42/228 and interestingly only 1 pax got "invited" to sit in the front cabin. J was 40/42considering they had a tech crew to pax up to AMS in J. Interestingly,we were given a cheapo made in China travel adaptor as a goodwill for the delay.

Will also note that on May 8 (day before the inaugural), SMA had an APU fault rendering air-conditioning inoperative with engines switched off. Most likely foxed by now, but probably one of the first proper tech-issues so early on!
          Fly well,
