  • Earliest check-in time for SQ319

The information on the SQ website states check-in is open 4hrs prior to each flight from LHR. I was just wondering, does check-in close after the SQ317 has departed at 12.00 and re-open again at 14:30 or does it remain open continuously?

I expect to arrive at the airport about lunchtime (I have business to do) and would prefer to check my bags in early if possible. Thanks for any help.

I do know that if you try to check in for the later flight before 12.00 they will refuse, I have seen several people turned away when checking in for SQ317. However I do not know if they close the checkin desks for a while between flights. I would not be surprised if they did so that the staff can have a break.

One solution would be to do internet check-in 48 hours prior, then when arrives early at LHR, just store the check-in bag at the Left Luggage near the arrival hall of T3. I think it's about 5 quids for 24 hours?
Not to forget, Welcome to SQTalk! Nice to see you around here as well...

The counters may be staffed by someone, but they aren't going to accept checked luggage or issue BPs for SQ319.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I was planning on doing OLCI and PYOBP but I still have to check my bags in and have my BP endorsed. Well, it'll only be about an hour an a half or so before I can check-in so not a big problem.

Nice to see some familiar names here from FlyerTalk.

I actually arrived at the airport just before 2pm yesterday and was told check-in for the SQ319 opens at 14:15. So I only had a short time to wait. I didn't print my BP as I didn't see any point in doing so.

Its always good to print your BP, you go to another check in counter and it saves a lot of time checking in. You can actually do self check-in for SQ.

My dear, do you really think print your own BP saving you lots of check-in time? You still have to pick up your original SQ BP at the counter. I did an internet check-in one-time, and created the longer time for checking-in my other flight. Had to be off-loaded first, then re-checked-in.

Also for self check-in with that ATM machine like, not all can use that machine. I for one can not use this feature for certain particular reason.

I miss good ole phone check in. That way I can specifically request to be put on the aisle if I've a confirmed emex SSR. There's no way to move to another emex seat on OLCI if you're put by the window, just have to rock up to the airport early anyway and hope that there are other emex seats left.

I was the first person ever to check in on line with EK departing from Sana'a. They had absolutely no idea what to do and it took them so long to sort it out I almost missed my flight.

I see. Is the queue very long at SIN? I didn't know that a normal BP is still needed, then what's the point of the print your own BP system.

If you didn't know how the process for SQ's PYOBP worked, could you clarify what you based your earlier advice on?

Why not do an experiment? Print your own BP. And see how long is the process to check-in. Since you go with family, perhaps one uses regular check-in, and one uses the e-z ck-in machine.
