  • Champagne Flute vs Champagne Glass

    This is happening on SQ15 SFO-ICN-SIN 22May2007.
From SFO, only 4 pax. And here is the way the champagne was served.

You can see the champagne flute with the jelly surprise from the chef which was

Then, taking the next segment ICN-SIN, here was the way the champgne was served.

I don't believe that we run out of champagne flutes. SFO-ICN was only 4 pax. Only 2 drank champagne.

Another anomaly happened regarding PJs. In SFO-ICN segment, only one XL size which was taken by the LPP seated in 2A, and I don't think he needs XL. Anyway, on my ICN-SIN, the continuing segment, there were abundant of XL PJs... What's up SQ?

I think the 2nd one is the 'new age' one my mum kept referring to in her email "trip report." She didn't get the flutes at all.

I think Keith is correct - it's been the trend toward "stemless" for a while. It takes a while to get used to.

I can offer an alternative explanation, with a sly wink to CGK...

...perhaps they are running out of stemmed glasses as they sometimes disappear

Sure that's not the real reason, but I do happen to have a couple in my cupboard

From my 2 flights on 77W, champagnes have been served on the "Stemless" glass. Wines have also been served on "Stemless" wine glasses.

            Isn't a stemless wine glass a tumbler?

Must say, whilst I do love an elegant stemmed champagne flute (use Dartington Crystal at home), most of my regular day to day wine drinking is out of IKEA tumblers I kind of like the look of the 77W champagne "tumblers" that CGK posted pics of,...now just to get my hands on a couple

Hey maybe we can time our next SIN flights, nickbot, so that we get the 77Ws (from ZRH?). But I'll be sat in Y, so unless our guardian angel is up front, I think the champagne tumblers will remain invisible to me.

jjpb3, I reckon that's a superb idea - of course, we would also have to arrange for said guardian angel to be present
