  • 777-200 interior update (mutilation)

I was just on SQ502 yesterday evening and I found these new interior updates:

It's nice to have the new 77WN pillows.

The blanket is new as well and it's different than on 77WN. It's almost towel-like in texture. In any case, it's soft and comforting, better than the old stiff blue ones.

Both are somewhat 'forced' onto the new cabin and the colours (while clash with the seat's to some extent) are still quite acceptable.

But .....The headrest has got a new cover now. And omg, what bad design taste this is. So forced. Definitely no professional designer taking care of some of these updates. If I were the designer of the original seat, I would be horrified by these mutilations. Please leave the original headrest alone.

Next... business class menu seems to be new design

And with new font sizes. And for this particular flight, notice an abbreviated dinner service is now in force. No more cheese and fruits. And there is only one choice of dessert. Just ice cream, usually there was a cake and ice cream. Welcome another round of cost cutting.

What is the rego of your plane?

Looks like no upgrades to the AVOD system despite all these minor improvements.

      Hmm... 9V-SRM? Anymore pictures?

Thank you SQueeze for the pics. I agree that the headrest cover looks out of place.

Those are just amenity upgrades that can be done even at gates in-between flights, nothing major whatsoever. It's just changing pillows, blankets, and headrest covers...

Yes this is indeed 9V-SRM, which had been inactive for a month prior to this flight. I think this post confirms that none of the 772s will be receiving any additional upgrades to the IFE system.

This was 9V-SQM. I flew on Monday (13 July).
          9V-SRM was yesterday's flight.

I didn't really use the AVOD except for watching some trailers. Nothing different as far as I observe.

I'm curious to know what the economy class cabin looks like now. The same?

Not sure if it is specific to SQ502. I took SQ852 to CAN last week, which departs roughly around the same time. They had the newly designed menu, but still offered the usual full dinner menu, with cheese cart and all. I kind of like the new menu cover design.

On the note of 9V-SRM which has been out of action for a while it appears to me that it is now back in use and now it is on its way to Perth/Ascot.

Economy catering is cut, and now is Business Class's turn. Funny that Supper service on the return flight offers a more elaborate menu... Probably due to the current catering contract in BLR. Probably after the current catering contract has ended, we will see the menu offerings for Supper reduced as well.

                      Yeah, rather noticeable, hey!

I'm happy to keep paying the extra $10 it could have cost to provide the original menu. On SQ228, the Drumstick has now become a Drumstick Mini. Seriously? Can I upgrade to a full-size Drumstick for $1 given bought in bulk it'd probably be an extra 50 cents for them...

Is this J update scheduled for the rest of the 772 fleet, or is it just a pilot test?

Interesting: American instead of British spelling used in the menu.

Not sure which part you're referring to but I noticed "appetiser", which is British.

Zucchini = Courgette in English I think?

A record for OT posting :-)?
