      I can see them swopping the 772s out for perhaps the regional A350s on HKG and NRT. But let's hope the 77Ws stay for HND.

          On the flight I took to HND, the load for F actually looks quite healthy (I'm usually one of the last to board, even after the F passengers).

          So maybe not for HND...

          NRT loads (especially for 638/637 compared to 12/11) however is much lighter compared to the HND routes.

            I find this really interesting. Only a year ago, SQ was still throwing their latest products at SQ638/7 as well as seasonal A380 services, complete with 12 suites to fill. SQ12/11 was always an A380.

            Now the flights have been bumped down to an old 772 without F and a 77W respectively. NRT has gone from 24 F seats per day down to just 4! Were all those seats flying about empty before?

            • I believe when HND first started, it was a bunch of 333 and 772 serving it. Now we have 2 77W and 1 773. So from 0 seats to 24 seats there. I would say the Tokyo seats have moved to HND. The LA seats are now split between NRT and ICN.

              Perhaps the demand is not great NRT-LAX given that NH and JL have quite strong products too.

                I initially thought NRT-LAX had a great demand just like HKG-SFO (Back in the day when both routes were served with 744's). But yes, I agree about the LA seats as I am sure some people booked in R were switched to F on one of the LAX routes. I do not know if SQ actually has 5th freedom rights to fly from HND to anywhere in the US.

                I know someone mentioned HND is losing F, but which flight pair is it? All HND flights have F (77W, 773, and 77WN). It looks possible it could go to 77WR or even A350, maybe the longhaul or regional version (I am told the regional version will start with SML).

                  I thought of that too, the regional A350's are definitely a bigger sign it will replace the A333 and 772 aircraft.

                    I flew on SQ638 last May and it was pretty light in F with 3 pax. F load on SQ12 is always heavier, though it's a little odd to me that SQ would choose to fly the 77WR with only 4 F seats. Trade-off for PEY I assume.

                    SQ started HND with double daily 77W in Oct 2010. If I recall correctly, they downgraded the 77Ws to the A333 and 772s after the 2011 earthquake due to decreased demand, before ramping services up to thrice daily when HND released more coveted international slots with favourable timings. The deliveries of the newest 8 77Ws has also freed up sufficient birds to allow SQ to re-assign them on the HND flights.

                    HND slots are hard to get and even NH and JL are squabbling over that. On the other hand, NRT slots seems easier to get due to the exodus of flights to HND. I'm pretty sure SQ won't want to utilise two of their precious slots in HND for a daily departure to the USA, even if they are permitted to. They would rather have an 3 daily flights between SIN-HND to take advantage of HND's proximity to the city centre, than one daily SIN-HND and SIN-HND-LAX. NRT is the better choice for 5th freedom flights.

                      May not be permanent but got an email today that my SQ633 flight in Jan 2017 just got swapped from a 77W to a 359.

                                I still remember the time when 638/NRT was the 3rd A380 destination after SYD and LHR, but those were the days before HND opened to international traffic.

                                Don't think those seats were empty, just that the traffic was diverted from NRT to HND. HND now has decent products too, with 632 being served with 77W and 636 served with the 77WR. It's so much more convenient to travel from HND compared to NRT.
