It will either be operated by an A350, or if still forecasted for 77W, they should put 77WR and close First Class reservations like they did with AKL for example.

SQ don't seem to be aware of this. They are still selling F on SQ285/6. You'd better advise them of their error.

        • MXP has on various occasions had extra terminator services performed by 772ER refits or even old 9V-SVF. With AKL, I thought the only announcement so far was that it would occur only on "selected days". I've not heard of any definite plans to discontinue F to AKL on any permanent basis. In peak seasons the 359 wouldn't have sufficient capacity anyway.

I remember about MXP and extra services operated by 772ER I think that within the next months we will know something about the aircraft. However, according to SQ website, PE is not available from MXP for the time being (also after the date of closure of First Class reservation).

              • 9V-SMC is scheduled for TAC tomorrow, May 26.

As for 9V-SMD, she's scheduled for first flight next week, TAC on June 23.

Excellent. Servicing AMS and DUS with only 3 A350s is possible but very tight.

If it is true, there will be a 77W to be spared for other route.

                        Isn't that a bit surprising?

Not surprising at all. It was expected because when they said F was not going to be sold on this route we had enough assumptions that the A359 will be taking over given that it does not have F at all. Probably explains why they stopped refits of the 77Ws. It sounds to me the A359 aircraft are replacing mostly the 777-200 which don't even have First Class. Hope the next on the list will be FCO or CPH which are both served by the 772. The 77WR routes that have 4 F should stay 77WR if there is sufficiently enough F demand (e.g. SFO/ICN, FRA, AKL, DXB). BCN/GRU and MXP could benefit from a 77WR.

SQ 67/68 for BCN and GRU had their F class removed from November onwards too.

I'm not surprised by the destination but I am surprised about the starting date.

After announcing they would serve JNB with a 77W with a closed off F cabin from a similar date, this announcement means they will now need four A359 in service by mid-July and have to hope that none of them ever have a technical problem on any other day than a Wednesday.

Effectively one pair will serve AMS daily in rotation, the third allocated to 3x JNB and the fourth to 3x DUS. Perhaps a CPH deployment is less attractive due to the uneven spread of days.
