  • Seattle - Los Angeles SQ connection

    Hi,

I can't find reliable information, so I guess i shall try my luck here..

I plan to book a flight from Seattle to Singapore. There's an option with 2h 35min connection at LAX. Is that time enough for me to make it though the immigration at Terminal B of LAX ? VA will be arriving at T3, which is just next to TB

    SEA (1100) - LAX (1335) SQ1324 operated by VA
    LAX-NRT (1545) SQ11

I do not hold any statuses or any express US immigration clearence
    TIA

I would be more comfortable with around 3hrs. time. One more point, looking at your time, you really have 2 h 10 mins time between your flights. You will have to walk all the way out of terminal 3 and to Tom Bradley International. I presume this would take 1/2 hr. for this especially if you are seated in the back of the VA airplane. Additionally, if you have baggage to claim before you walk over, then add another 15 mins. I believe you will have to add 45 mins for check-in and baggage deposit to SQ. Security lines are generally fast at LAX TBIT but give it atleast 15 mins.
Of course if your SEA-LAX is delayed by even 1/2 hr. it might be really close.

I dont think immigration status matters here because SEA-LAX is a domestic flight and there really isn't an "outbound" immigration step in the US.

I've done this connection before but all the way to SIN. There's no security or immigration at LAX after arriving from SEA and if your bag is checked in at SEA all the way to NRT and you've got the boarding pass for LAX-NRT aswell, it would save a lot of time. Just have to dash out of T3 and walk to TB (don't bother with the bus) and take the escalator up the departure level. There's no immigration, just security that you need to pass through; if it's not Monday, Friday or eve of a holiday, it *should* not be a problem.

The only unpredictability is that your SEA-LAX flight is late. Which was what happened to me - by a whole hour. However, I did managed to run/walk all the way to TB, and fortunately I did get priority at security as I was in J, hence I managed to even get a quick shower at the lounge before hoping onto the flight.

VX (it's VX for Virgin America; VA = Virgin Australia) at Terminal 3 is adjacent to Bradley International. It's 5 minutes on foot at most: I just did it in less, with a heavy shoulder bag.

Security at Bradley is pretty fast, although SQ 11 departs at 2:40 pm which is a relatively busy time. Figure 15 - 20 minutes in the queue.

Your VX - SQ connection should be just fine.

If you interline your bag as CarbonMan suggested, this is a moot point.
