I personally feel part of the reason they don't do that is precisely to avoid pax taking them off the plane and re-using them at home after the flight.

Agreed for current headsets that are collected back at the end of each flight...but if they have no plans to collect the new cheapo in-ear headphones, then they may as well do away with the 2 pin system, right?

After all, these are so cheap that they are given free on board many city tour buses.

But like I said...just a thought. They probably won't invest in a whole new system of jacks and sockets for all the planes unless there is a big cost savings in the headphones resulting from it.

They'll go with whatever way they think is more cost-efficient in the long run, that's for sure
