But still we haven't seen HKG got any of the 77WNs (and no Red Eye flights neither)

    • Such a rare 77WN, hope US-flights will get that some day as well.

      • How many more 77WNs before we start seeing the roll out of Premium Economy? The product is suppose to be rolled out from mid-2015, starting with the 77W's, so I guess we would be expecting an announcement about the new cabin configuration around March next year? Will be really interesting how SQ will layout the new cabin with PE.

        • I wonder if SQ might change its direction to roll out PEY first on A350s.

They should receive A350 #1 from mid next year and if B77WN delivery finishes by then it will make sense to have a new aircraft type to have a new cabin class.

            • is it really true that SQ319 on weekdays is now old biz seats instead of new biz seats of the 777-300ER? I will be flying early Dec 2014 thanks.

So the following, from the A350 discussion, is no longer true?

Unless you were referring to QR's inaugural, which should be in Jan 2015 to FRA.

taking delivery vs in-service are usually different dates, no?

Ok now I'm confounded by your statement. It seems that you're referring to different airlines, as your 'in-service' period is before the 'delivery' period. The A350s you refer to as arriving only in Jan '16 are for Singapore Airlines? While EIS in Feb/Mar 2015 is for Qatar Airways?

There hasn't been any official news when SQ will take delivery and have their A350s flying commercially, but QR announced a few weeks ago in this press release that Airbus will deliver their first A350 in Dec 2014, for EIS in Jan 2015 on DOH-FRA. I think QR and Airbus would have been pretty confident that there would be no further delays to announce the mid-Jan EIS. Unless the interior doesn't meet QR's high standards

There's been no move to take the new planes off SQ319. Now and then a standard interior does the flight, but it's fairly occasional.

                        • Looks like we have missed this article, and yes SQ is refitting their B77Ws to B77WNs starting 9V-SWA:

Deckchair-style seats and wider TV screens as Singapore Airlines spends £200million revamping first class to compete with rivals
Airline are spending £200m revamping first, business and economy cabins
New first and business class seats will feature 'Sundeck' and Lazy Z' settings
New seats will be as long as 82 inches and as wide as 35 inches in first class

Singapore Airlines is spending £200million fitting out their fleet of aircraft with new deckchair-style seats.

The airline is embarking on a major revamp of its 19 Boeing 777 planes.

The changes will include equipping the aircraft with seats that feature two new settings - ‘Sundeck’ and ‘Lazy Z’.

New, bigger seats will also be added to the airline’s first class cabins.

The seats will be as long as 82 inches and as wide as 35 inches in first class following the move.

Television screens will be expanded to 24 inches in first class and 18 inches in business class.

Economy class customers will also get bigger seats and screens.

Singapore Airlines has three newer 777s that have already been fitted with the larger seats and screens on routes to cities such as London and Tokyo.

The revamp of the existing Boeing 777 planes starts early next year and is projected to be completed in September 2016, said Nicholas Ionides, the airline’s spokesman.

The investment comes after Emirates Airways, and Etihad Airways both unveiled a raft of luxury offerings, including showers and butlers on their flights to the Middle East.

We've known that the refit would happen for some time, but this article does give us a clearer picture of when it might happen.

                            The key point is:

The revamp of the existing Boeing 777 planes starts early next year and is projected to be completed in September 2016, said Nicholas Ionides, the airline’s spokesman.
                            and also of interest:

Goh said the new seats would also be fitted on the new A350 aircraft joining their fleet by next year.
...which sheds more light on the A350 issue being debated.

                            Thanks for posting it here!

                              • I just wonder as B77Ws are being refitted to B77WN standard, then why A380s are not being included in this latest cabin rollout?

A380 is flagship of Singapore Airlines and some of them are already 7 years old. Surely the product/cabin is getting old and need some refresh.

Perhaps it's time to give them a cabin upgrade huh?
