Fascinating, and scary. It seems only yesterday. Thanks for the memories and the answer to a recent question. I need to go back to Kaoshiung and was just wondering how long it was since the SQ flight ended.

By the way,the main reason which cause this route been closed is SARS in 2003~

Such a beautiful plane the A310-300. She was my fourth widebody in my first three decades of flying SQ.

A perfect plane for that elegant SQ inflight service and we are talking main courses including duck, lamb, and pomfret paired with wine in EYCL!

Thank you for bringing us down the memories lane, indeed 2003 is really a bad year, not only Kaoshiung went off-line, Chicago & Las Vegas was also terminated during that SARS period.

Really hope that SQ will re-instate Chicago in the near future.

yeah,Las Vegas and Chicago routes have been closed during SARS,that's too bad~

These are fantastic photos, Webster! Thanks for sharing them, I fondly recall boarding A310s to Bali during my school holidays, I still remember seeing the aircraft pull into the gate from the outside smoking area of the DPS lounge.

With the rise of the local casinos and Macau I doubt we'll see LAS being reinstated anytime soon, likewise for ORD where NH just started their second daily frequency.

Interesting photos of a memorable event!! I like KHH, it's a very pleasant airport to fly in and out from, and the harbor view as the plane lifts off is very nice...

Hope SQ returns there someday! I think that 787s may be well-suited for point-to-point services that may make KHH routes more profitable...perhaps for Taiwan-based carriers if they buy them...

I really recommend SIA(SQ,Silk or Scoot) to come back to Kaohsiung now,the time is right.

Thank to the new policy of the civil aviation bureau in Taiwan,the landing fee has been decreased in KHH and other local airports except TPE and TSA.

So now has many foreign airlines launch new routes to KHH,including Peach Aviation from Japan and Busan Air from Korea (LCC),I think Scoot can come to Kaohsiung too.

Last,I hope SQ 787-10 could fly to Taiwan in the future too!!

Wow I remember those J seats. As PPS we were always put in them on the KUL-SIN runs when booked in Y - cause there was only YF service!
