Page 210 provides details on its fleet, especially on lease expiry. Looks like in fiscal year 2016/7 (Apr 2016 - Mar 2017), 4 A330s + 1 773 + 1 772ER will exit as leases expire. What is not clear is how many of the older owned aircraft will be retired during the period.

I really am hoping that the posts in another thread that 19 older planes will see an upgrade of IFE and Y-class seats taken from 77Ws being refurbished are true. I flew SIN-IST-SIN recently on SVx aircraft; and the IFE experience was painful.
Thanks for the link 259850. Very informative.

I do wish that SQ had extended the leases for the A333s. Those aircraft were fairly new and were great to fly on. But I guess at the end of the day, it's not profitable to do so.

About the 772/773 refits, I seriously doubt this will happen unless someone has a credible source to correct me. The SV series 772s will most likely be retired within the next two years with the A359s entering service and while the regional 772s and 773s will probably stick around for a little longer, it is still hard to imagine SQ investing more money into upgrading these airframes.

The thing is it is not going to be very expensive upgrading the fleet as they will be getting the seats and IFE equipment from the 77Ws. According to SQ's announcements, even at end March 2016, there will still be 28 of the older aircraft (772ER, 772 and 773) in the fleet, and only 2 leases ending the following 12 months. With the A330 leases ending earlier, quite a few of the older planes will stick around longer - so it may make sense to upgrade the IFE at least.*

*Assuming SQ gets 13 new 359s in fiscal year ending March 2017, retires the 6 planes with leases ending during the period, and another 6 of the older owned aircraft (and assuming the fleet size doesn't change), it still leaves us with 19 older aircraft at end March 2017. This ties in nicely with the rumored 19 planes being refurbed with new Y seats and IFE, taken from the 19 77Ws.

It won't be. They would have put it in the report if it was. Plus there are not enough Y seats in the 19 77W's to install into the 772's. The A330 seats won't do either.

I tend to agree. I find it a bit implausible that IFE systems can just be moved to a different craft. If it's as easy as unbolting and rebolting seats and plugging the wires into new sockets, why would there be any purple cabins left?

Technically, these are the 2001/2002 Y (with pockets at both sides of the screen, and little button to inflate the seat cushion).

For 1997 Y, even the Y seats are old, my experience with 9V-SVH on HKG-SIN service shows that the IFE has been upgraded to the same interface as B777-300 (non-ERs).

The other concern I have here is that SQ has been quite focusing on rolling the first A350-900 out, but we have no details for the other 43. We still have 23 old B777-200(ER) and 7 B777-300, even with arrival of B777-300ER and A330-300, leaving 7 old aircraft not directly replaced in the first batch.

So when SQ is planning to retire all these fuel thirsty birds?

It's going to be quite a period of change for the rest of this year!

Already an alteration to make- 9V-SKH has now joined this group of A380s with a PE cabin and begun flying the PE routes while SKF seems to be resting a little.

SKG appears to be the next one undergoing PE fit-out.

Technically, these are the 2001/2002 Y (with pockets at both sides of the screen, and little button to inflate the seat cushion).
Oh I did not realise they were a new product. I just thought SQ decided to change the 1997 product a little based on customer feedback from the earlier birds.

I don't think SQ will be retiring the 9 refitted 777-200, 9 refitted 777-200ER and 7 refitted 777-300 anytime soon. They will probably stay around for another 2-3 years. The unrefitted ones (9V-SRJ, 9V-SRL, 9V-SVF, 9V-SVH and 9V-SVO) will leave in the next 1-2 years though, as the A350s come in.

Already an alteration to make- 9V-SKH has now joined this group of A380s with a PE cabin and begun flying the PE routes while SKF seems to be resting a little.

SKG appears to be the next one undergoing PE fit-out.
                        Thanks for the heads-up!

The 777-300 are going soon. One of them is up for sale on the Boeing website.

Oh yes I forgot about that. Is it 9V-SYK? I believe it is on lease and SQ is looking to let it go by end of FY2015/2016, as stated in its annual report.

Yeah, planespotters lists it as the leased one, along with SVH and SVO.

I believe it will be effectively replaced by SNB as SQ237/8 is scheduled to upgrade from the 773 to the 77W.
